I don't remember China ever successfully bought Chinook.

The 234 civilian variant? Maybe, not sure.

Boeing marketed the civilian Model 234 Extended Range in China in 1987. One aircraft toured the country -especially Tibet- in a major promotional campaign in order to sale 12 Chinooks but as far as I know Boeing did not make it.

in fact i saw a photo of a Boeing 234 painted with the mark of chinese civil aviation before, and i heard that there are some serves in business (not confirmed). in the late 1980s, chinese military tried to purchase some CH47 but failed and then bought mi17 instead (pretty cheap).
