I know it's been discussed before, but this seems to be the first time that talk of an Army wide program has come up and not a "limited study" Good stuff, I hope it gets fielded quickly.

Any pics of the rest? Also, the pant sounds like the Crye one
"material that stretches in certain areas" ...must be speaking of the crotch area, it always is the first casualty on our current uniforms.

No, I wish. I will keep a look-out, but if you look closely at the pic, it shows an Eagle Ind. PC w/CB and they also mention that Eagle put forward the design of the USMC Scalable Plate Carrier. The MSA Paraclete entry is no doubt their SOHPC, so it's not to hard to get an idea of what they are looking at.
Yeah, as soon as I heard the "stretchy pants" deal, I thought, great they got Crye pants, which is nice.

Oh man do I feel for you on that one.
They want to field 100,000 plate carriers in August...wow if they do it, I'll be well, impressed.

Yeah, i'll be very VERY impressed if they send us it during our deployment. The IOTV isn't bad at all once you strip it of all the ballistic attachments (throat, neck, groin, etc.)

Same thing I thought of when I saw the Combat Shirt. The Army spent years developing the Future Force Warrior, used all of Crye's stuff, then flipped 'em the bird when choosing the next uniform. Now we're back peddling, adopting Crye-inspired uniforms years after we used them in FFW. Sad.

Knowing the Army, they won't get the new plate carriers to A-stan until winter, if not next year. Everything has to be delayed at least twice.

Yeah it is, but what can us guys do.

Yes I know, it blows.

Even though I have no doubt all these changes are both overdue and will take longer than needed, I am pretty impressed in the last couple years at the changes the army made. In 2005 I was wearing an IBA with level III plates, still working with the old MOLLE, etc etc. 4 years later and we really have done a lot of work. I had an IOTV for the last half a year of my most recent deployment, and the difference was substancial. Hopefully that last bit about coordinating with the other land-owning services will lead to us mirroring our slightly more advanced bretheren, and going a bit simpler with the kevlar (I.E. a good ol' police style vest we can wear a rack or plate carrier over...simple!)
Being the slow old man I am, Ive never heard of the new pants or helmet mentioned...anyone mind helping me out?

Those Crye style trousers are something i'd really like to see adopted here in the UK. However our army is extremely conservative and I can see them being rejected on the basis that they don't look smart enough and you can't iron a crease down the front of them.

Not looking smart, maybe they should understand that the huge belt needed for the trousers, is stupid...not trying to be an ass.

Can't look any worse than the A2CUs we're issuing out in Iraq right now. I know fire is a major issue, being so vehicle based...but MAN are they sloppy looking. I'm not exactly a high and tight kind of guy when in theater, but those things were just a bridge too far for me, I stuck with the ACS and normal ol' ACU pants. If these new ones look like what Crye has been selling, it'll surely be a couple steps in the right direction from the A2CUs, at the very least.

The massive green belt isn't practical in the field, I just thread a normal one through, but it looks smart in barracks with a stable belt in your regimental colours. Which half do Generals and the people who make these procurement decisions do?

I wouldn't mind a pair of those Crye trousers, due to the nifty-looking built-in kneepads, I realised this only after bashing my knee on rocks and having it swell up like an egg, ouch. Those trews have got to protect your knees better than nothing, and got to be better than the usual kneepads which slide down onto your ankles after awhile!
Nothing wrong with the wide belt though. Day-to-day, or training nights at the TAC for me mostly, with stable belt - smart as, and lets people know your unit. Adds a bit of colour and better than all those patches anyhow. In the field, go beltless and use the pyjama-cord ties, or get an old school 58 belt like I just managed to. The issue green nylon belt changes length arbitrarily throughout the day, which is annoying as your trews slip down, so its best kept for over the smock in barracks, blinged up with a proper shiney regtl buckle. Simples!

Well over due!!! Damn, we went from Ranger Body Armor, to a flak vest with plates (IBA), to a huge releasable vest (we asked for Paraclete RAVs in '03, the IOTV is what they got us). The sad thing is, we'll ge the Eagle vest, cause it's cheaper, and the 75th, and Marine Corps are already using them- that is how it will go.
PEO Soldier, give us choices, give them all to us!!! Let the 'hooah' make the choice! You provide the armor, and we'll choose the carrier!!!
The pants, awesome!!! I knew they'd come out when you see some AWG guys showing them off at a conference! Very smart.
Now, fix the pattern and we're complete!!!

6Gearss...such a lurker, check out AOR 1 and 2 as far as pattern USSOC just adopted that as the pattern for USSOC units. 1 looks like desert MARPAT but two looks way different then MARPAT woodland...I like it...but how long have we had the rumors about MultiCam replacing UCP...forever.

Well I did some digging and I came up with this, MSA Paraclete's Releasable SOHPC, I don't know if this is up for this eval, but I thought I saw it in the video that goes with the article posted from ArmyTimes.
