Police have released a photo of some of the stores from the Nelson siege. Can anyone ID ammo types and weapons from this?

I'd say
5.56 - Two mags in front.
7.62 x 51 - three mags to its left. Looks like FN FAL mags.
and what looks like a bandolier of 12 gauge.

This is a nice guessing game, but you could just post pics of the actual firearms instead.

Now, more importantly, can anyone ID the body armour. It looks like an early Dragon Skin prototype to me.

Napier, not Nelson.
No firearms license
No E endorsement on his non existent firearms license
No B endorsement on his non existent firearms license
Firearm(s) under minimum legal length
No blasting license
Friends and family that were aware of his illegal ownership/possession of firearms, ammunition, and explosives should be charged with accessory to murder of a law enforcement officer.
If there is an afterlife I sincerely hope that fcukwit suffers for eternity.

This dodgy Saffie hopes this isn't going to spell the end of firearm ownership for you blokes. This is just the sort of thing the anti-gun lobby's love to use to further their cause.

Yeah ha ha that's pretty funny isn't it.
You sick ****s.
A police officer died and 2 more went to hospital for this prick.
When you're done contemplating that, and you let your **** go after giving it a beating while looking at the photos of the stuff they took from his house, think about the people who lived in the area, locked in their houses, without a clue what might happen to them if this lunatic got out.
Then you can have a think about the families of the victims.
You mother****ers make me sick.
**** YOU ALL.

You know, I did have a good think about the whole thing, and the conclusion I came to was that calling out the army with their LAV's for one bloke with a couple of guns was a complete over-reaction.
But then maybe us Saffies are just dulled to this sort of thing because we see it all the time here.
PS: I've reported your post for committing a verbal attack on other members. You have a nice day now. :)

Did this guy have South African connections of some sort? His family name "Mollenaer" I would rather more connect with a boer than a kiwi.

Jan Molenaar was 51 and lived in that house for 21 years. He was also a former NZ army reservist. So I do not think so. But that said , there is very little info available so far.

Dutch media have reported the man to be of dutch origine.
http://www.nos.nl/nosjournaal/artikelen/2009/5/9/090509_schutter_nieuw_zeeland.html
(in dutch though)
The article mentions that Molenaar had been working in NZ for more than 2 decades.
The dutch embassy in NZ however could not tell media if Molenaar still had a dutch passport.

It's not a stupid question - that's what the equipment and gear forum is for. How else am I supposed to ID a picture of stuff except ask people who know more than me? Google only accepts key words in the text.

Newsflash, neo-hippy, 99.99999% of the people here are the sort who need to know this info so we can put away the mass murderers.
And precisely ZERO percent of you guys do that.
So who is it again who needs to apologize to the families of all the people you helped kill?
