WICHITA, Kan. — DEVELOPING: Media outlets are reporting that late-term abortion doctor George Tiller has been shot and killed at his church in Wichita, Kan.

Anonymous police sources told The Wichita Eagle and other media that the 67-year-old doctor was killed Sunday morning at Reformation Lutheran Church.
Police spokesman Gordon Bassham would not confirm the victim's identity pending notification of relatives but said a 67-year-old "high-profile individual in the community" was shot and killed.
Tiller has been among the few U.S. physicians performing late-term abortions. His clinic has repeatedly been the site of protests for about two decades and he was shot and wounded by a protester in 1993.

i don't know what are the regulation rules in USA but in France and much of western Europe, late term abortion are done only for medical situations that could be life threatening for the mother or that lead to a heavily defective (physically or mentality) child

"At his church" admittedly took me off guard. Too often, abortion doctors are pictured as baby-eating heathens, when in fact they're regular people like anybody else.

I'm sickened by abortion, and I don't think it's right. But, I remember a quote from the show Law & Order,
"I am pro-life, but I am even more pro-law."
It applies to this situation. I hope they bring this fanatic to justice, and regards to he victim's family.

FOR STARTS: I don't want to start a flame war

I take a little exception to comparing conservative Christians to the Taliban. If there were such thing as a "Christian Taliban" they would take critics or people of outside of Christianity, to the curb and shoot them in the back. At most, the radical Christians would just harass, and even that I don't approve of. Look at Westboro Baptist Church, and that's about as extreme as you get. They are small and yappy.
Murders such as these are very rare, and usually done alone. The Evangelicals are hardly militant enough to cause any damage to anybody. They don't storm villages and force them under strict Mosaic Law. At most, they're an annoyance.

The real Taliban is a real threat, that recruits at gun point, kills in cold blood, and truly represses without hesitation. The Evangelicals barely sink that low.
