Saddam's beard when captured: 13-15cm

A) how long into OIF did he hit the spider holes, and are we reading too much into this?

I admit I never thought of that...

But, knowing that Saddam Hussein admittedly employed many body doubles, we can't be certain when was the last time he made apublic appearance. So we can only speculate as to when he started growing a beard.

Maybe the political storm that preceded the war drove him paranoid and he retreated to his bunker like a demented Howar Hughes, plotting some fantasy plan while his aides sorted the mess...

Maybe he converted to Islam and wanted to redeem himself...

Maybe his wife is just a fan of the "rugged woodsman" look... rofl

9 month, approximately 270 days. Let's assume he didn't shave the month before OIF started...that makes 300 days. 300 times 0.4 mm are 12 cm...if his beard grows a bit faster or he didn't shave more than one month before the war began (because he exspected to have to hide), you have your 13 to 15 cm.

No mystery here, I think.
