I guess the Associated Press was wrong, back before the election when people were saying Obama was a muslim, when Obama's grandma said she was a Christian.

Christians are not allowed in Mecca, period. Something is wrong with this story. I mean for Christs sake there are Muslim only roads leading to Mecca with warning signs everywhere; Sulaiman Al Fahim has no right nor authority to invite her.

I think that the penalty for entry into Mecca if you are a Muslim is kind of, um, severe.

That's the inference, but I don't personally believe it is so. It lends credence to the idea that he's got more exposure to the religion as a youth (heck, I can't remember which grandma was the one that raised him, or which family members were the parental authorities during his time in Southeast Asia) than some people might be comfortable with. But.... he says he is a Christian and he goes to Christian churches. Can't he leave the Muslim faith, even if he ever was one? (I know, loaded question)

But anyway.... Still think she can't go to Mecca, from what I understand about the club membership that you must have before you can get in the door.

Sort of Implies that Obamas Paternal Grandmother is a Muslim if this man can be believed. Everyone i know, knows that only Muslims are allowed into Mecca. I'm sure She would as well.

I'd be there...looks like nothing else on Earth, much less the religious significance...but the whole forbidden under pain of death thing is a deterrent. But I'd expect a quick conversion or an admittance that she's been Muslim all along.

Really depends, at what point in Mecca is it closed to non-Muslims.

Some of the biggest hardliners on Islamic doctrine are non-Muslims. It is their call not mine on who is allowed in or prohibited.
