Can anyone confirm this? Word has it they got deployment orders (edite: date to be removed). If its not gone public then go ahead and delete this thread or tell me and I'll do so.
The whole Liberia situation is really sad. Most of them are kids.

The pictures coming out of Liberia right now are horrendous. One was of a boy who had piled his father into a wheel barrow to get him to the hospital during the shelling the other day. Both of the father's legs had been blown off at half calf. Another showed 2 government soldiers trying to extract a gold tooth from a severed head of a rebel soldier. At this point, there's no good side down there. The government is accused of war crimes, and the rebels are accused of cannibalism and heinous acts of their own.
More on-topic, this was the caption of a photo that depicted random rebel soldiers moving along the port:
The first of 40 US anti-terrorist Navy
special forces (FAST) sent by the Pentagon reportedly arrived at 10h30
GMT to protect the US embassy which was shelled today. AFP PHOTO

As far as I knew, Marines were sent to guard the embassy, not Navy special warfare. Did they have it wrong?
I attended a Liberian seminar a week ago. MY GOD--THE HORROR. We viewed a slide show which included massive decapitation. Its just weird to see a perfectly good clean head just lying in the middle of the street . A photo journalist spoke of a colleague who was serenaded by the child-soliders, singing not of peace, but of raping and smoking pot.
Washingtonpost.com has it wrong, it should be Fleet Anti-terrorism and Security Teams, a Marine unit. A damn good one at that.

Well, no it hasn't been in the news yet, but even if it had, one might want to wait until after the operation has begun/is over to share that information. Having said that, please let me say this: most people with hostile intent probably have lawn chairs set up just outside Pope AFB, just keeping track of the C141s(82nd still uses them usually?) going in and out. But I'd say it's best to error on the side of caution, just in case. Don't worry, I don't think it's much of a problem. Thanks for thinking to share information in general, and have a good one. Just some thoughts...
Its really not an issue to talk about as long as its released. Seeing as how most elements aren't even at their base as is I doubt anyone would suspect them going at all.

Even if he did say something he shouldnt have...will it really matter... the liberians probably arent reading this website, i doubt many if any of them even have internet connection, and even if they did, what advantage would it give them?

Guarding the embassy are the marines job.
that guy can't be too poor if they can afford a brazil shirt
That's what doesn't make any sense. the clothes most of these people are wearing don't look like money is an issue. It's just that they're all insane.
A tactic that the MEU may use is simply buy as many assault rifles as they can. Govt troops are on a perdiem for war, which amounts to thirty to fifty dollars. The COL might be authorized to buy at thirty dollars per rifle. The same goes for the rebels.
Has anyone seen the japanese film 'battle royale'? Those pictures remind me of it.

Those pictures of the kids with the guns reminded me of something
amnesty international said a couple of days ago...
the news station i was watching made a big deal out of the fact that
the american soldiers made a 12 year old kid kneel and put his hands on his head when they were arresting him or something i dont know why
but anyway amnesty international made all kinds of statements and stuff
about that one incident
i dont get it! whats wrong with these people it has benn proved all to often
that children make great soldiers!
as you can see africans have been using down to ten year olds in
tribal wars and stuff and they have been a lot more succesful then you'd
expect! a 12 year old kid with an AK can do as much damage as
a grown man with an AK
