I've seen heaps of pictures of SF in these two theatres. (As I'm sure you guys have)

One thing has been rattling around in ym head for a bit though.
When US forces started attacking targets in A-Stan on October 7th 2001, the SF soldiers who were in theatre wore mixtures of Civvies and Uniforms. They then were told to switch to uniforms.
Why did this happen?

I remember seeing film of SF in Nth Iraq when the BBC were blown up and the SF there were in full combat uniform etc.

Is it a case of wearing uniforms when in combat with conventional units?
Is this to cut down on blue on blues? As wearing non-reg clothing could be mistaken for being enemy forces (insurgents, guerillas etc)

it is a case of apples and oranges - different missions, different situations requiring different things.

I've seen both Army SF and SEAL's wearing civvie gear here, even just yesterday in the Rashid.
