Global Peace Index (http://www.visionofhumanity.org/gpi/results/rankings.php)

taking in random facts about countries, crunching them up, adding some fairy dust and dragon teeth and coming up with a number and 3 decimal points that try to give a rank to a country, like home-run average, but for leftist as*holes.

well, they can have it their way.
but now comes the fun part on behalf of PressTV (http://www.presstv.com/detail.aspx?id=96888&sectionid=3510212)

from a peace index it turns into a negative sefety index (i.e. most dangerous) and from all of the possible data on that piece of sh*t index, they emphasuze Israel and the US.

this line says it all

Israel which was dubbed the third-most-violent place last year, is even more dangerous than Sudan

well, what can I say. I really feel sorry for the Iranian people, they deserve better.

I did a scientific survey of the clocks in my house. Of the 10 clocks, the one on my wife's old VCR is the most statistically accurate. It is exactly right, twice a day: noon and midnight.

It's been flashing 12:00 for years.

What's it got to do with Iran? The report is produced by an American company, the Economist Intelligence Unit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economist_Intelligence_Unit), and the idea was conceived by an Australian.

There's more details on The Global Peace Index on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_Peace_Index):

The list was launched first in May 2007 and then in May 2008 and recently on 2 June 2009 and is claimed to be the first study to rank countries around the world according to their peacefulness. The study is the brainchild of Australian entrepreneur Steve Killelea and is endorsed by individuals such as Kofi Annan, the Dalai Lama, archbishop Desmond Tutu, former President Martti Ahtisaari, Muhammad Yunus, economist Jeffrey Sachs, former president of Ireland Mary Robinson and former US president Jimmy Carter. Factors examined by the authors include internal factors such as levels of violence and crime within the country and factors in a country's external relations such as military expenditure and wars.

I doubt all of the people above are spokespeople for Iran.

ummm i dont think you read what you posted!

its a survey by a NON Iranian, Australian based organisation. and they have not even listed the US amongst the top 10 most violent places. they are just stating that it didnt rank high in the 'peaceful' places.

but i feel sorry for you. your propaganda against Iran blinds you to these 'minor' details!

That's just, like, their opinion, man.

I don't think the top of the list (eg. Denmark, Sweden etc) is too far off, since they usually come out on top in such listings. As for the US and Israel ranking so low...I'm sure the researchers can make some sort of arguement in their defense. Perhaps not a convincing one, but some scientific case nevertheless. Their methodology may not be entirely accurate, but I doubt they tampered with the entire survey just to screw with the Juice.

the results of the survey is nothing unusual, although I find it very ridiculus, thats not the problem.
what I see as a problem is the constant pumping of anti Israel anti USA matters in the Iranian press. I meen, It's known they aren't a big fan of Egypt for instance, but there are no words on Egypt's rank. there is no mention on Russias low ranking in this survey. maybe because you don't bite the hands that feed you.

An objective report on this survey is what free press is all about, whether the result is good or bad. but pumping out day in and day out propaganda about their big and small satans is all they seem to manage.
and it's going on all the time, not just prior to the elections. There are tons of threads regarding this on MPnet, and a whole lot of ridicule towards the Iranian press. but the few hundreds of virtual people here are not the millions reading this sh*t in Iran, that is the problem.
