I live in Los Angeles, USA and the gun laws there are very restrictive - it would be almost impossible for me to own something like that.

It has a Picatiny Rail(called ARMS Rail in israel) so you can mount any optics you want .

Does any country in specific use this as their main weapon of choice like the U.S. uses the M16 and the U.K. the L85a1

????

also

does anyone see any similarities to this weapon design, and color config and the NEW XM-8

http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v34/pretorian669/TAVOR%202004/TC.jpg

And also -- i noticed the 9mm conversion -- but it seems like most of the others use the m16/m4 223 magazine

is it .223 or different caliber?

My question about that gun is the following: Is it difficult to reload, especially during combat, I ask that because of where the magazine is it seems to me that it would be very hard to eject and replace the mag quickly. It looks to me as if you would have to move the rifle way out of the firing position in order to reload. During combat those many extra seconds it seems it would take to reload might be the difference between life and eath....feel free to correct any wrong assumptions I have made as that is why I am asking, I don;t know if the aforementioned is in fact true.

Also, another quesiton: Why would any soldier want this rifle to be chambered for 9mm as it would then be just a large pistol with optics essentially....No where near the knockdown power of the M4/M16, which based on articles on this and many other forums, has it's own issues with the knockdown power of the .223 round that they fire.

i truthfully think a fully automatic 9mm (hollow point)

would have more of a knock down power then a .223

also -- less money for ammo

but i dunno

For the same reason a soldier would want other “large pistols"( rofl )
like the MP5,UMP,UZI,M16/9 and the Bizon. Have you ever heard of "Submachineguns”?

The 9 kit for the microtavor is for Special Forces, used in SMG role.
When there's a need to use a SMG you are already familiar with the
weapons functions from the standard 5.56 version. The same principle as with the 9MM M16.

Hi, pretorian, I have a little question, maybe stupid
Is the reddish button above the triger the magazine release?

Cause if it was, only one thing would be missing to the Tavor to make it the coolest AR/SAR/SMG in the world, a downward ejection (I know, considering the classical position of the magazine, it would be a technical miracle)

Yes it's the mag release but only on the latest models. But the bolt catch is still in the mag area...

About case ejection its a problem with all bullpups except the F2000.

Took a look at the f2000, looks bad ass, but isn`t the forward ejection a little complicated?
don`t know, i wonder if it`s really reliable, but knowing FN, it might be.

because unlike other photo's of the micro tavot here you cant see the rail, and the MARS look, like in the long TAR-21, a port from the weapon

According to Jane's, the FN F2000 came out on top in a recent intense reliability trial for an unspecified South East Asian country.

Others rifles included in the trial were H&K G36, SAR-21, M4, M16A2 and AK-107.
