On behalf of the Iraqi people I really do hope that the socalled new national flag is gone and forgotten. Sweet Lord was it ugly. Seemed like some drunken guy had used Paint in Windows to put it together.
The one they have is more than nice and good enough. But if the myth is true that the writing on the flag is true that it is Saddam Hussein's own handwriting then they at least should change that. :D

Ditch the Allahu Akbar. And do something to make it somewhat different than the other clone flags out there and that'll be that. Those colors are important to Middle-Easterners.

How about the Iraqi people decide on their own flag, rather than having one imposed on them?

I feel that thier new flag should have something in it that shows gratitude towards the blood my country men (weman) spilled and are still spilling.
Maybe a white star or yellow strip in it.

There are better and more sensible things that you could do to show the sacrifice those in the coalition, and the civilians made for the benefit of Iraq, than redesigning their flag.

Point noted!
But unlike you and I symbolism is everything for them. So on their level I find it appropriate and unmistaken for thier sake and the sake of the hero's!
And I ment the coalitions blood.

I read somewhere that the 3 stars represent the BAATH PARTY goal of reunification (happened briefly in 1963) of Egypt, Iraq and Syria. One would think a flag which still associates itself in some way, shape, or form with the Baath party would anger a lot of Iraqis.
On the other hand, since it has been their flag for so long… maybe they have just grown attached to it, disregarding some of its meaning.

The new flag consists of a pale blue crescent on a white background and has a yellow strip between two lines of blue at the bottom. It will be raised over government buildings within days, spokesman Hamid al-Kafaai said on Monday.
"The white stands for peace and a new start for Iraq, whilst the crescent represents Islam," al-Kafaai said, adding the blue strips represented Iraq's main rivers, the Tigris and Euphrates, and the yellow represented its Kurdish population.
The old flag - red, white and black with three green stars, representing pan-Arab nationalism - had flown for more than 40 years, preceding Saddam, who was ousted by US-led occupation forces just over a year ago.
In January 1991 Saddam Hussein added the Arabic words "God is great" to the flag.

People were angry that the new flag didnt have the color green in it. I cant remember what the significance of green was again.
