I know the circumstances of the murder itself. I hear about it every day when I tune into the news to see what's going on across the planet, and that's the ONLY thing they're talking about. But that doesn't answer why one murder gets several hours of coverage every single day for a year.

According to FBI statistics,

An estimated 16,204 murders took place in 2002. (source) (http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/cius_02/html/web/offreported/02-nmurder03.html)
And that's in the USA alone. I'm sure that quite a few of the others were also heinous, or involved husbands killing their wives. Do you think that justifies the fact that the Peterson murder trial gets as much coverage as THE WAR IN IRAQ on the TV news? When the vast majority of those 16,204 murders are never mentioned ONCE on national news?

Anyway, the main point of this post was not to say "I'm tired of hearing about it" (I am, but that's not the point). The point is: were these people famous in any way before the murder? The media hubbub reminded me of OJ Simpson, but I'd never heard of the Petersons. Are they really just nobodies who became famous because of this murder?

The media runs with whatever the public takes an interest in. The media isn't out to present facts... they are out to make money. They were a good looking middle/high income couple so people think it's an unusual situation (the murder). The fact that an unborn infant was invovled is an opportunity for some to get on their soap boxes. There are lots of factors that play into what is "news worthy". The news is a form of entertainment. People like to be entertained.

I said the same thing to myself months ago. But this was my conclusion... I think the propaganda was started first by FOX news due to the lack of situations to write about in the time frame that this had happened in. So I think it surfaced because of its movie 'story-line' situation. You know what I'm talking about, murder/ mystery/ rape/ homicide/ battery/ affairs/ blah/ bleh/ blah/ bleh. Do you see where I am coming from? So after more things started to be concluded ie 'chapter-pushing-drama', the public wanted to hear more about it. So now they cant stop due to lack of interest that the community may show if they quit talking about it. AND we all know what the effect of dropping a story leads to... LOW RATINGS. Now I know this will sound stupid to some of you, but, think about it? Why else?! Thanks for reading this worthless bull**** =P.

Just last month near my town a pregnant woman was murdered. It was in the paper for one day, then It was back to Scott f'n Peterson.
Im almost as sick of hearing about this **** than I am of hearing about Joan Bennet Ramsey or whatever the **** her name was.
Surely there are more important things happening in the world. Like who J Lo is marrying.
