PETA Wishes Obama Hadn't Swatted That Fly

Thursday, June 18, 2009

WASHINGTON — The group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals wants the flyswatter in chief to try taking a more humane attitude the next time he's bedeviled by a fly in the White House.
PETA is sending President Barack Obama a Katcha Bug Humane Bug Catcher, a device that allows users to trap a house fly and then release it outside.
"We support compassion even for the most curious, smallest and least sympathetic animals," PETA spokesman Bruce Friedrich said Wednesday. "We believe that people, where they can be compassionate, should be, for all animals."
VIDEO: Click to watch the scene on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTpiwngOg7I)
During an interview for CNBC at the White House on Tuesday, a fly intruded on Obama's conversation with correspondent John Harwood.
"Get out of here," the president told the pesky insect. When it didn't, he waited for the fly to settle, put his hand up and then smacked it dead.
"Now, where were we?" Obama asked Harwood. Then he added: "That was pretty impressive, wasn't it? I got the sucker."
Friedrich said that PETA was pleased with Obama's voting record in the Senate on behalf of animal rights and noted that he has been outspoken against animal abuses.
Still, "swatting a fly on TV indicates he's not perfect," Friedrich said, "and we're happy to say that we wish he hadn't."
Deputy press secretary Josh Earnest said the White House has no comment on the matter.

If the fly gets to your food, it helps itself spreading saliva on your grub and often having a crap whilst it's eating. It's also spreading some of the dog turd on your food from where it was previously feeding in the street on your neighbour Fido's latest fresh and steamy offering lying on the pavement. I say death to all flies. NO MERCY!!!

Blog from the official PETA site.

Well, I guess it can't be said that President Obama wouldn't hurt a fly (http://www.swamppolitics.com/news/politics/blog/2009/06/obamas_flyswat_got_the_sucker.html). The commander in chief was recently pestered by a fly during an interview. He swatted at the insect and killed the little guy instantly. Believe it or not, we've actually been contacted by multiple media outlets wanting to know PETA's official response to the executive insect execution.
In a nutshell, our position is this: He isn't the Buddha, he's a human being, and human beings have a long way to go before they think before they act.
If all this has you wondering how you can be a bigger person (figuratively, as well as literally) in your dealings with exoskeletal beings, check out our handy-dandy bug catcher (https://www.petacatalog.org/prodinfo.asp?number=HP220)—one of which we are sending to President Obama for future insect incidents. I can tell you from personal experience that it sure came in handy the other day, when one of my cats was chasing the World's Largest Palmetto Bug (http://dsc.discovery.com/news/2007/11/21/gallery/giant-bug-320x540.jpg) around the house.

Pretty funny coming from the organization that destroyed over 14'000 animals between 1998-2005 and they continue to do so. Its all very well and good to condemn others for killing things due to their inconvenience but what do they have to say for themselves?

Not a whole lot, they'd rather point fingers.

Not only that dude, but they actually euthanize animals that are given to them which they cannot give homes. The organization does this and doesn't hide it.

So much for their stance of animal life being equal to human life. They are a bunch of delusional hypocrits who even advocate violence as a justified means to their end.

Apparently the meaning of 'hypocrisy' is lost on the lovely folks at PETA.

PETA Killed 95 Percent of Adoptable Pets in its Care During 2008

Hypocritical Animal Rights Group’s 2008 Disclosures Bring Pet Death Toll To 21,339

WASHINGTON DC – Today the nonprofit Center for Consumer Freedom (CCF) published documents online showing that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) killed 95 percent of the adoptable pets in its care during 2008. Despite years of public outrage over its euthanasia program, the animal rights group kills an average of 5.8 pets every day at its Norfolk, VA headquarters.

According to public records from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, PETA killed 2,124 pets last year and placed only seven in adoptive homes. Since 1998, a total of 21,339 dogs and cats have died at the hands of PETA workers.

Despite having a $32 million budget, PETA does not operate an adoption shelter. PETA employees make no discernible effort to find homes for the thousands of pets they kill every year. Last year, the Center for Consumer Freedom petitioned Virginia’s State Veterinarian to reclassify PETA as a slaughterhouse.

CCF Research Director David Martosko said: “PETA hasn’t slowed down its hypocritical killing machine one bit, but it keeps browbeating the rest of society with a phony ‘animal rights’ message. What about the rights of the thousands of dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens that die in PETA’s headquarters building?”

Martosko added: “Since killing pets is A-OK with PETA, why should anyone listen to their demands about eating meat, using lab rats for medical research, or taking children to the circus?”

CCF obtained PETA’s “Animal Record” filings since 1998 from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Members of the public can see these documents at PetaKillsAnimals.com (http://www.petakillsanimals.com/).

(Skeptical? Click here to see the documents. (http://www.petakillsanimals.com/downloads/PetaKillsAnimals.pdf))

In addition to exposing PETA’s hypocritical record of killing defenseless animals, the Center for Consumer Freedom has publicized the animal rights group’s ties to violent activists, and shed light on its aggressive message-marketing to children.

The Center for Consumer Freedom is a nonprofit coalition supported by restaurants, food companies, and consumers, working together to promote personal responsibility and protect consumer choices.

At this point, I honestly have to conclude that PETA are at best garden variety trolls, and at worst part of a vast, secret conspiracy, underwritten by proponents of animal testing, the goal of which is to completely delegitimize support for animal rights in the eyes of the general public.

I simply cannot fathom how an organization can consistently do more harm to its stated goals and interests than does PETA, which is why I conclude they are either diabolical geniuses or total f*cking retards.

When I was a kid we used to go to the beach every summer (North Carolina coast). One year we rented a beachouse that was up on stilts, so you could park your car underneath. This garage area wasn't air-conditoned, of course, and the door was always open. It was hotter than hell down there and it was swarming with flies. The first day or two I spent hours swatting as many as I could. You could easily smash 2 or 3 at a time with no trouble. The body count must have reached 500 or so before I got bored and went and picked on my little sister. Good times.....

PETA was, when I was a kid, a noble organization that wanted nothing more than the proper treatment of animals. Like all do-gooder organizations it has been hijacked by an extreme gang of morons who now think it's wrong to have a pet of any type. These people have gone beyond the deep-end and into the abyss.
