ACU's Don't Cut It.

That's the cover story of the 29 June issue of Army Times, which is subtitled "Soldier complaints prompt Congress to demand Army adopt new camo". Note that this is focused on ACU effectiveness (or lack thereof) in Afghanistan, and the person pushing this is none other than that staunch friend of the US military, Rep. John Murtha (D-PA).

(My $0.02: There is not enough contrast between the colors in the pattern - a darker 'foliage green' would help - and there needs to be a more tan/coyote undertone instead of grey. As one person in the article put it - after they get dirty, they work...)

With that being said, and now that I've put on my fire-resistant MarPat scivvies, let the "I-told-you-so" flaming begin...

I find it ironic that camoflage tends have a tendency to start in this corner of the world.

Khaki colored uniforms originated in present day Pakistan / Afghanistan by dying white British uniforms with tea leaves and dirt to be less auspicious.

i think the army should have adopted the marines woodland and desert camo instead of the acu the acu doesnt work that well in many environments... any other ideas here?
