There is overwhelming public backing for the force, which is called "Operation Helpem Fren" in the pidgin English that loosely unites the 450,000 islanders and their 60 different languages.

The peacekeepers and police will also include contingents from New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa and Papua New Guinea.

A movements NCO/Officer from a logistics unit. Someone who sits in an airconditioned airport and complains that your kit weighs 80Kg and that your dirty boots will get the nice carpet on the C130 dirty.

The red armband with a yellow 'waggonwheel' logo is the UK and Commonwealth identification for movers.
