Its bad enough US business has to adhere to hundreds of rules and regs few other countries follow, and that destroy US jobs. But, there is always room for more!
Boehner: Climate bill a 'pile of s--t' By Molly K. Hooper Posted: 06/27/09 09:22 PM [ET] Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) had a few choice words about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) landmark climate-change bill (http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/house-passes-pelosis-signature-bill-2009-06-26.html) after its passage Friday.
When asked why he read portions of the cap-and-trade bill on the floor Friday night, Boehner told The Hill, "Hey, people deserve to know what's in this pile of s--t."
Using his privilege as leader to speak for an unlimited time on the House floor, Boehner spent an hour reading from the 1200-plus page bill that was amended 20 hours before the lower chamber voted 219-212 to approve it.
Eight Republicans voted with Democrats to pass the bill; 44 House Democrats voted against it. Pelosi's office declined to comment on Boehner's jab. But one Democratic aide quipped, "What do you expect from a guy who thinks global warming is caused by cow manure?"
Even though Sen. Majorty Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) holds the bill's fate in his hands, House Republicans intend to hammer Speaker Pelosi's signature climate-change measure over recess.
And GOP Conference Chairman Rep. Mike Pence (Ind.) said "we have only just begun to fight” as he left the Capitol Friday night.
Pence encouraged GOP rank-and-file lawmakers to hold energy summits in their districts over the Independence Day recess. In the recess packets sent home with members, he even included directions on how to organize energy summits.
The goal of holding an energy forum is to “educate your constituents about the Democrats’ national energy tax legislation and let them know what 'all of the above' solution you support.”
"All of the above” solution is a reference to the Republicans' plan that would increase the use of and exploration for domestic energy supplies.
Further, officials with the House GOP's campaign arm, the National Republican Congressional Committee, confirm that they will run with paid media over recess in districts of conservative Dems who voted for the bill. The official would not reveal details on the ad buys at this time.
One Democrat was upset that his leaders would needlessly force vulnerable Dems to vote for a bill that will come back to haunt them. Mississippi Rep. Gene Taylor (D) voted against the measure that he says will die in the Senate.
"A lot of people walked the plank on a bill that will never become law," Taylor told The Hill after the gavel came down.

Nice to see the hyenas tearing at each other over what’s left of the national scrap O meat. The less they can accomplish, the more they snarl and bite exposing their true colors. I hope they drive the opinion polls to zero so we can get on with the sacking of the parties and put a new generation of fresh faced, inexperienced crooks in power.

its nice to know he can read, but did he use any ounce of intelligents (pun intended) to derive a valid rebuttal to counter the bill ?

I'll do it for him. Climate change is bull***t, and even if its not there is zero probability of other major emitters playing by the rules. 150 million Americans might as well meet in Montana and sing folks songs for the next decade.

John Boehner sat around with the majority for 12 years and provided nothing to this nation. All of the sudden he's in the minority and all he does is blow hot air, and fails to provide alternative options - which we know from the previous 12 years he lacks. The best thing for him to do shut up, resign, and bring around better blood.

He's doing what a minority leader does. It's politics. It's no different when the shoe's on the other foot. Also, I find it refreshing that he actually read at least some of the bill before a vote. What a ****ing concept.

Hey, I'm 100% GOP, and I want "Bonner" Bohner out and replaced with someone who instead of object, object, object, says "wait a minute, I have a different option". It is the Bohners hat have put us into our current political Siberia.

"Climate change" and "global warming" are the 21st Century equivalent of "feminism".
"Feminism" was hijacked.
Now 'climate change" and "global warming" have been hijacked.
Let me explain:
I see this as an effort to make taxation palatable along the lines of making a lower standard of living palatable.
Legitimate Feminism gets hijacked to obscure increasing inflation and a declining standard of living by making Mom and Family somehow LOVE Mom not just having a full time job at home raising the kids, but a full time job out in the workforce as a "career woman" just to maintain the same standard of living with a few more bits of crap.....you go girl! My Mom's better than yours because she's got three jobs!
Legitimate Environmentalism gets hijacked to obscure government clipping the ticket on stuff going up in value during increasing inflation by making everyone somehow LOVE being taxed to "save the planet".....WOO! I stopped murdering mother nature! My no longer being able to afford dairy or meat had nothing to do with it! My carbon footprint is lower than yours!
I don't see it as a "vast conspiracy".
But I DO see such things as a simple "alignment of interests".
Global Warming is the "New Religion".
Al Gore is the new Jerry Falwell or Jim Baker, either or it doesn't matter.
The tithe to the Church of Mother Nature will be 10%
Dirty dairy farmers, dirty gold miners, dirty energy producers, and the rest of the dirty $inner$ get mandatory front row seats in the new church
Fundamentalism and Political Correctness are the Pillars of the new church, catch phrases like "carbon footprint" are the new gospel.
In regards to Feminism, I think it was quite easy.
Government WINS by hiding inflation behind a thin vaneer of Feminism requiring women to work a second full-time job, and like it, to hide declining living standards....at little to no cost.
Industry WINS by being incentivized to market to an entire new consumer class, full-time working mothers, who, after contributing to the cost of propping up their existing lifestyle, possess some new cashflow to spend with industry.
Feminists WIN via the declaration of false victory.
Women WIN by achieving "financial freedom" and additional leverage/power within their Family heirachy...at the cost of a doubled work load.
Men WIN via increased family cashflow and diversified income streams at the cost of shared leverage/power within their family heriarchy and increased workload.
The loss to Kids and Society are long-term issues that do not compute with short-term attention span mindsets.
In regards to Global Warming, I think it's a bit harder:
Government WINS by taxing those with potential to seemingly benefit the most from a high inflation environment. Framing these powerful small minorities as "Dirty Sinners" by Populist Spanish Inquisition of the New Religion of Global Warming will make it not just possible, but relatively easy....being able to manage a near-religious movement from behind the curtain..sort of like how special interests manage government.
Industry WINS, well...at least some of it....along the lines of the old joke:
Two campers were hiking in the forest when all of a sudden a bear jumps out of a bush and starts chasing them. Both campers start running for their lives, when one of them stops and starts to put on his running shoes.
His partner says, "What are you doing? You can't outrun a bear!" His friend replies, "I don't have to outrun the bear, I only have to outrun you!"
The most agile oligarchs, with the most liquidity, will take all...eventually....
Special Interests would probably be "betting it all on PAC" to ensure they are the last standing.
This message is sponsored by Tyson's Soylent Green..."Homeless people really do taste like chicken!"
Environmental Fundamentalists WIN via the declaration of false victory
Consumers WIN if they are successfully driven to populist frenzy with their prize being the destruction of the Dirty $inner$ and watching their fall to join them in despair, and the sense of belonging they achieve as a parishoner at the New Global Warming Religion with the chance of becoming a Carbon Footprint Imam....all at the mere long-term cost of far higher food/energy controlled by even fewer oligarchs.
I wonder how badly the food pyramid will be "re-imagined" like something out of Orwell's 1984.
Feminism hid inflation and a declining standard of living in plain sight.
Cap and Trade Global Warming hides new taxes in plain sight.
Just a thought.....and just my 0.02c

I believe he did. But printing a rebuttal is boring while printing a cussing jab will catch more readers eyes. This is pretty much cleavage showing for journalism.

In the interview, Mr. Obama had few words of comfort for those who may have taken a political risk by voting for the House climate change bill, and no threats for the 44 House Democrats who defied their leadership to oppose it.
“I think those 44 Democrats are sensitive to the immediate political climate of uncertainty around this issue,” Mr. Obama said. “They’ve got to run every two years, and I completely understand that.”
Many of the Democrats who voted against the legislation represent districts that rely heavily on coal for electricity and manufacturing for jobs.
Mr. Obama said the House bill contained transitional assistance for these regions.
But he expressed scorn for the Republicans who fought the bill in the House. He noted that some of them had predicted political doom for those who voted for it, recalling the 1993 battle over an energy tax that failed and helped Republicans gain control of the House a year later.
Those Republicans “are 16 years behind the times,” he said, comparing their position to that of Republican leaders in the energy and health care debates of the early Clinton years.
“They’re fighting not even the last war,” he said. “They’re fighting three wars ago.

Y'all get that? Democrats who voted against it are "sensitive".
Republicans who voted against it are "behind the times".
And did the NYTimes spot the hypocrisy? Haha, don't make me laugh!

With it this close in the house, the senate will probably abort this fetus of legislation. And if voters in this country have an IQ above 40 they should remember which way their rep. voted on this come election time. However, considering they continue to vote in leftist retards I am not too confident.
I can't think of a name

"Government WINS by hiding inflation behind a thin vaneer of Feminism requiring women to work a second full-time job, and like it, to hide declining living standards....at little to no cost."
Was this inflation going to happen regardless or did the increase in the number of people in the workforce cause the increase in money supply?
