The fact that every person (well almost everyone) in Israel is spending approx 3 years of his life at the army makes the army a part of our life (even those who have never been to the army).
And since that almost 80% of the people is connected to the internet means that Israelis will lurk in almost any decent army related forum (and this forum is more than decent :) )

Great video, especially the live fire training in OBUA ('lechima shetach banoy').
Some dodgy 'histaruyot' and 'pezaztot' though!

I realy wondered about your username, I mean, is that your name? Is it a common portugese name?
P.S. Nahal are a regular infantry unit, they are a bit less good from the Paratroopers and Golani.

I think Moledet that they may argue that one with you!! Every fcuker thinks that they are the best it is only natural, especially with Mediterranean males!
The only unit worth joining in Nahal is 'Caracal' - fighting p*ssy (kusiyot lochamot)
Personally I always rated Golani as the best infantry in the IDF, paratroopers were too square and rated themselves today on the propaganda of the six day war, distinct dress code, etc.

No my username isn't portuguese at all. No one around here has a name like that. My first name is Diogo.

I thought that Golany had the thoughest Gibush of all the infantry sayerets.

Great video "big Israeli", do you have a video of Maglan or sayeret MATKAL or Duvdevan?

Yosy, I think that you don't know what Gibush means, gibush is a test that you pass before you can enter a special unit (Sayeret MATKAL, Paratroopers, Duvdevan, S'13, Egoz, etc...). Golani, NAHAL and Givati are not special units, you don't need to volunteer to serve in them, you are being stationed in them if they want you (Golani has the first choice, then NAHAL and then Givati).

Thanks for the info Moldet. I thought that Gibush was the same as SAS Selection and happened in ALL sayerets.

Anyone knows how is the Gibush for Sayeret MATKAL, Shayetet 13 and Sayeret Shaldag? They are the main spec-ops units in the IDF right?

I think you are little confused.. Golani, Nahal, Givati are Brigades.

In each brigade you have 3 Battalions and about 4 Brigade Units ( Including Sayeret Golani for Exmple ).

In order to get those Brigate Units you need to do a Gibush a week after you recruit, if you dont pass you go back to the Battalions, if you pass you will be in one of this Units. This Gibush is called Gibush Yahatiot, And this Gibush is one the Hardest Gibush in the IDF.

Gibush Shayetet 13 is very very vey Hard, you need to be very strong Physically and Menatlly, its about 4 days, my friend said its "Unhumen".
Gibush Matkal is more easy physically, because in this gibush you will have handle different situation and solve them, its more about thinking than running, but it still Hard

I am going to address this to the Israelis here that did not served (yet ;) ) but yet have found the utter confidence to make blanket and clear cut statements on units they “feel” to better or what not

First, remember you have former or serving members in just some of the units that you rate better or worse then, and lets just say that it’s a bit absurd to read from some that never served, claim on a international board who is the better units or who is the worse  ………..cut it out.

Secondly, saying for example Golani is better then Nachal is false for its too general of a statement, I mean in Golani for example you have many “Gduding” and many different units, so for example I don’t think that Gdud 12 in Golani is better then Sayeret Nachal………so even if we get into this game here, please be specific and signal specific units, for I can guarantee you that there are certain units in Nachal that are considered on top level and certainly better then some unit in Golnai, Givat and Tsancahnim and also vise-versa

Thirdly these “rankings” change all the time, I mean heck just look at a lot of units in Givati where before the intifada, they had lets just say a very “weak” reputation, though now four years later, well they fixed that very well, and the same for a lot of units in Nachal, who did excellent jobs in the past four years of fighting and they too have moved up their rep :D

Lastly, this is a international forum, as such I advise as always to not get into this inter-service rivalries here, on Israeli forums between Israelis, like in the army, thats fine, but in public in a international forum, it should just be “kol’ ha’kovoad le’ Tzahal” and that should be the unifying message, whereas in the army, there were say rivalries between “chir” and shiryon” for example, in here I don’t bring that up and I fully support and defend (when necessary) comments directed from outsiders against “shriryon”

Anyways that’s my take on all this, you can either agree or not, that you prerogative.

P.S. Great link (if I have some time I will make another thread with some of the pics there)

Shalom :D

From Isayeret.com:

"Among the four infantry Sayerets, Sayeret Golany is considered to be the best by far. Enjoying a very generous budget, most of it deriving from civilian donations and contributions, having a strong focus on CT, and the second most rigorous training regime after Shayetet 13, Sayeret Golany had carved itself a name of a truly elite unit.

From the mid 1990's, Sayeret NAHAL had taken a big lip forward and today is considered as equal to Sayeret T'zanhanim. "

A roman catholic friend was asking, if she would want to move to Israel, what would she need to do? Considering she´s not jewish and the Law of Return won´t work for her.

AFAIK:

he Israeli Law of Return does not categorically exclude non-Jews from immigrating to Israel. Any person who wishes to settle in Israel, may do so, at least in theory (in practice, Palestinians, including former residents, are excluded, see below). That person must meet the requirements set forth in the Law of Entry to Israel (1952) and the Law of Citizenship (1952), regarding naturalization. These requirements are similar to those stated in the laws of most countries such as:

1. they must have resided in Israel for three years out of five years preceding the day of submission of the application;
2. they are residing legally in Israel and have settled permanently or intend to settle permanently in Israel;
3. they have renounced their prior nationality, or have proved that they will cease to be foreign nationals upon becoming Israeli citizens.
Her best plan of action is just pay a visit to Israeli embassy/consulate.

my boy Eli just got accepted into Golani PALSAR

he did the Gibush a few weeks ago, said it was very tough. there were kids puking left and right. they had to carry each other across the desert w/o water for hours, just very grueling overall.

one of IDF's training aims is to create a soldier that doesnt get tired as quickly as his enemy. due to past wars, IDF knows that a reserve force will not always be available, so the front line battalions need to be trained to handle stressful and fatiguing environments.
