I haven't sent him any messages in over a month and generally I only reply when he initiates a message. Since he left I don't seek him out. Tonight "our" bearded dragon passed away. Not to be ignorant, but it's not "ours" and all it ever did was sit on a stick in the tank and occassionally eat crickets. Not exactly the kind of pet you bond with.

Just a ploy to tweak my emotions? Get me talking again? Or do men really bond with lizzards?

To answer your question, yes, men sometimes tend to bond with those types of animals.
I used to have a 5 1/2 ft black "rat" snake for a few years, when it died I was pretty upset. When I would just relax and watch tv, the snake would curl up in my lap and just chill, or when I had a party it would just wrap around my arm and go for the ride :lol: . It was very mellow and liked people a lot. Considering I caught it in the wild it was a pretty big accomplishment to tame it because it was mean as hell for the first few weeks. I'm more of a dog person now though.

On one hand I want to be nice cause this guy was part of my life for 12+ years. But then again, after all he put me through at the end it would be easier to just pretend he didn't exist. He still stresses me out.

I can certainly understand not wanting to just write him off after over 12 years... it would be a difficult position. Being civil and not saying much more was probably the best thing you could do.... you shuuuure is smart... ;)

Ha, I had snakes when I was a little kid. My mom used to put them in my bed when I wouldn't get up for school. I cried for like an hour when one of them died and my mom had a long talk about why animals and people die and so on...
