It's a great show, too bad morons write it off simply for being a certain genre.

Great show. It has a sort of art form that is missing in anime. 99% of most anime is junk. This one is pretty solid.

Bounty hunters.

I find it to be a badass show as well, especially with the jazz soundtrack.

Indeed, I just enjoy the entire soundtrack. I think it accents the series with a touch of sophistication.

Yeah, watched it's airing back a few years, even bought it on DVD. It has what a lot of other shows lack and the story is solid and the sound track is just icing on the cake. Spike is pretty BAMF and the story around him is very interesting.

Cowboy Bebop is a top-notch show, and this is coming from a guy that doesn't watch anime. It has an original storyline, compelling characters, and has an interesting depiction of what a colonized Solar System looks like. I think many members on this board would like it.

Unlike a lot of animes, Cowboy Bebop has gritty realism. So you won't see cartoony/cheesy/annoying overreactions and exaggerations that plague the anime genre. You almost forget that you're watching an anime. It's fantastic artwork.

The same studio also did Wolf's Rain. That show is lesser known but a work of art.

Cowboy Bebop is the best sci fi series I've ever watched, live action, anime, or otherwise. It's got humor, action, cool characters and a freaking great jazz soundtrack. They just re-issued the complete series in a package with all episodes remixed for surround-sound. About $40 for 26 half-hour episodes, and that's the best entertainment spending you can do right now.

It´s rumoured that Hollywood is going to make a film about Cowboy Bebop, and Keanu Reeves will be Spike Spiegel. I´m terrified about that, probably they will do a horrible adaptation.

My Ex made me watch Cowboy Bepop and Samurai Champloo with him. I was really skeptical at first but I have to admit Samurai Champloo has got to be one of the best shows I've ever seen. It's very funny and thrilling at the same time. And it's full of hilarious characters.

Cowboy Bepop was not really my thing though, I didn't like the characters and the setting. :petting:

Top of the top Anime, Story, Soundtrack and one of the few Anime that the English voice actors outclassed the Japanese. I've had a big Spike wall scroll since '99. The live action movie is ridiculous (That includes the Akira one and rumored Jin-Roh Wolf Brigade)

Rurouni Kenshin> all other samurai series.

Which brings me to my next question..what is the point of hentai when there is real **** available?
japanese **** and hentai have originality and creativity - being a fan of japanese manga art makes it all the more enjoyable. :)
But I have to say - in recent times Hentai animation sometimes tends to become mundane and trite - back in the 90ies they had great stories - just like regular anime.

you also might enjoy "Jin Roh - the wolf brigade" and "Appleseed" (there are more of those but I don't remember them at the moment)

One of the best anime series I have ever seen.
Illarious that episode when they were looking for a video player and they got a VHS and were trying to put a NTSC tape inside it :cantbeli:

The guy who had a hard on for Beta haha

Not all anime needs to be serious (It rarely is) but Bebop transcended all boundaries in the most complete way since the release of Grave of the Fireflies film, and still kept it very fun and cool. I had the opportunity to meet Shinichiro Watanabe & Hajime Yatate some years back and it was a real pleasure.

Excellent stuff indeed!

Anime is a misunderstood genre, everyone thinks that Anime is about childish cartoons a la Dragonball that run on the afternoons when it's exactly the contrary.

My recommendations:

Berserk
Nausicäa
Jin-Roh
Planet ES
Battle Angel Alita
Vampire Hunter D
Ghost in the Shell: SAC
Spriggan
Rurouni Kenshin
Basilisk
Ninja Scroll
Lupin the 3rd
Trigun
Death Note

etc. All mature films/series with solid plots and great animation resulting in a worthwile experience.

Heh I visited Studio Ghibli in July 2006 during my Japan and SK vacation. Very cool and informative (animation techniques etc) but getting there was crazy.....

Forgot to add Princess Mononoke. An epic masterpiece.

My bad. I didn't mean to forget it, although to be honest the ending disappointed me a little. Great story and character development and then it pretty much comes to an abrupt halt. I prefer the 2 series in that respect.

Patlabor was cool aswell.

Its still aimed at tweens. No where near the maturity in subject matter that the rest of the initial list provided

you forgot neon genesis evangelion and gurren lagann

no he didn't.
Evangelion is typical school romance story mixed with a truly interesting mecha design and truckloads of cryptic mind****.

as for gurren lagann - are we talking about this one?

It doesn't get much more immature then that - I'm a big anime fan - even bigger mecha fan - but I couldn't stand this sh*t.

I'm not a big fan of anime, but a friend of mine introduced me to cowboy bebop and samurai champloo a couple of years ago and I liked them. The artwork and story are excellent unlike most anime out there.
