Unless he is quoting a specific FL law (which wasn't on the books when I lived there but that's 5-6 yrs ago) he is mistaken. Federal law prohibits the transfer of a handgun to anyone under 21. Anyone over 18 can possess/purchase a long gun. Long gun is the term for a rifle or shotgun, further defined as designed to be fired from the shoulder.

Its not "select fire", so its not an "Assault weapon". Its just a plain old semi auto rifle.

Well if the anti's have had success in one thing, its even getting gun types calling firearms that technically are just semi auto rifles, an assault weapon. Sorry, a pet peeve of mine, along with people who call a mag a clip.

No such word, ASSault Weapon was made up by the antis to sound scary. After all anything you label as an ASSault Weapon suddenly gets that prison rep that all new convicts are looking for.
You are correct in saying that it is just a semi-auto rifle though.

Assault Rifle is the correct word which comes from Sturmgewehr.

Actually, 18 and over can have either a handgun or a rifle. The law is that an 18 year old cannot purchase a handgun from a Federally Licensed Dealer. However, 18 year olds can buy hand guns through private sales legally, including through gun shows.

I'm finding that there is supposed to be some kind of background check before you can buy a handgun from anyone.

EDIT: Background check can be done online. A private seller may want to do it for liability issues (and is supposed to by law). He can get in big trouble if he sells a firearm to a felon. http://freebackgroundchecks.biz/Firearm_Background_Check.html

If a weapon is used in a crime, then the guy is caught, and interrogated and it comes back that he got the weapon from such and such and he had a felony when he bought the weapon, he can be screwed big time.

There is no Federal requirement for a background check for a non-licensee to non-licensee sale. Several states have more stringent requirements than that. Any dealer or any other person that knowingly supplies firearms and/or ammunition to a prohibited person is in violation of Federal law (18 USC 922(d)).

SO my dad can just hand my the rifle, end of story?

EDIT: For Handguns, I've confirmed that you can obtain a handgun the same way as a Rifle in Florida as long it is a private purchase. Ammo for a handgun may be hard to buy from a FFL Dealer, unless you can convince him that it's for a long rifle.

However, FOR RIFLES in Florida, including AR-15s, AK-47s or whatever other long rifles, as long as you are 18 years old: Yes, your father can just give you a rifle. You can go to the gun store and buy a rifle. I'm 100% sure on that! The transfer is "official" when your father says, "here ya go, sonny boy!"

When I did a trade once we both showed our Stata CCW, after all in order to have one you need to be law abiding.

I did have a guy in MI try and get me to trade him my Savage Enfield for a Walther P22 and I'm in OH.
I was not getting involved in out of State trades unless it was thru an FFL. Luckily I had a Class III dealer I know up North that was prepared to do the transfers for us. Never heard anything back, so make sure and use street smarts when making a private trades/purchases.

I've never had a problem with USGI mags. I admit I've never used them in too extreme an environment, but even as a mech inf guy, the issued mags, as long as you kept them serviceable worked fine. My biggest problem with mags is working on concrete floor ranges and the feed lips getting banged up. Other than that, they hold up to range and operational use.

But if you got the scratch, I don't fault anyone for buying top shelf, name brand stuff.

The PMAGs shouldn't be knocked though as MagPul have their stuff in check.

Because it sounds like a story, something along the lines of "That's going to look sweet, flag, gat, passport, nice", then you get bagged for it and now the story is "it just fell there that way and I was too lazy to move it".

Hilarity.

Pretty much is the story tho, Passport slipped out of my bags and i left it there cause it looked cool and im a lazy bastid. so fvck it you know. i mean christ. its a fvckin passport.

and yeah, halarity. thats what i get for being lazy i become the next MP.net retard along the lines of Bloodiamond pants, PKM's Multicam and now me. Passport guy.

Nothing, I play a lot of games myself. Just seemed a little try hard.

Seriously though, I thought if you were travelling to Cuba you'd take luggage that was a little more inconspicuous. That bag would just make everyone look at you with a raised eyebrow.

I did not take that Green Gun bag. i took regular black roller bags.

the bag in question is just off camera, open with clothes and papers spilling out.

as for raising Eyebrows,

You 'dropped it there'? On an American Flag? Yes, that sounds entirely plausible. :|

That, combined with your signed Call of Duty MW 2 board thing, just makes you look pretty 'airsoftish', to be honest. Even though it is a real weapon.

It is a nice weapon though. What's with the serial number?

Jesus Christ, what's with this post? Go back to your hole. Kid just got a great gun and a great deal on ammo and mags and is kind enough to post pics and all you do is flame him? No wonder I haven't been here in ages.

The 6933 is the 11.5" bbl model.

I'm not sure about Florida's SBR laws but if you can get one I would. And the closest thing you can get to a Colt A4 would be building your own. Check out Specialized Armament Warehouse - Colt Rifle Parts (http://www.specializedarmament.com/catalog/Colt_Rifle_Parts-4-0.html) to see how much it will cost.

you'll need to built your own with Colt spare parts

replace the HBAR barrel of a Colt MT6700 with a surplus Colt one

Why do they even bother stamping that on there if it can be sold to civilians anyway?

Colt's stand is the guns are to sold to their LE dealers and the guns are only to be sold to LE or gov't agencies for official use. But Colt does not enforce that rule and leave the sole discretion of selling the gun to whom ever in the hands of the dealer. This is how the military guns have leaked on to the market at such low price since the dealer are buying the guns at LE dealer cost + discounts...and turn it around and selling it on line or in their stores with min. profit.

also it looks like they got the ejection port spring for the door and installed it backwards to that the spring pushes it closed, instead of pushing it open.

the port door only opened when it ejected brass.

then close after ejecting brass, the time it takes the cover to close is probably slower than it takes the bolt to return home, so if you fire rapidly the cover could close on a ejecting casing. then tada! cluster****!

Some one made the wheel square, you want to do that too?

think about the force the brass is being ejected, now imagine how much force it require to pop open the ejection port door. even if you remove the detent block on the door. you are just asking for trouble with that ejected brass popping back into the receiver....

If it is something feasible, you would see someone selling the conversion on line....

As far as the trigger, it is a combat carbine.....

I dont know why it would feel crunchy, maybe theres some grit in there that you can get out. Besides that, like Crosshair said...just shoot it and it will "polish" itself out.
