So there is a new oil platform visible from the Haifa bay shore which is in the northern Israel. I was wondering if you guys know anything about that, I remember reading some article about oil discovery not far from this place.

Not oil, but natural gas, most likely.

Here's a map done by the E&P company putting up rigs:

And here's the most recent info on the appraisal (all news stories seem to be based on this press release), from July 7:

The results of Tamar-2 have considerably reduced the uncertainty in previous resource estimates for the structure. Accordingly, the gross mean resource estimate for Tamar has been raised to 6.3 trillion cubic feet, which represents a 26 percent increase from the estimate made following the Tamar-1 drilling and double the original pre-drill resource estimate for the prospect. In order to further confirm Tamar drilling results, a reservoir consulting firm has been retained to prepare an independent assessment of the discovered natural gas resources. However, judging from the map, if you saw it from shore, there's a chance it might be an appraisal well at Dalit, not Tamar.

Regardless, I'm betting on it being a natural gas appraisal well, not a production well.

Wow, thanks for the information!

However the platform that I've seen is closer to the shore than the yellow zone in the given map, though it doesn't really matter, it must be Dalit I guess.

I thought Moses specifically was looking for a patch of land with no natural resources so people would be more hard working:) I guess he forgot to check under the sea.
