Does anyone on here have any experience with the TechSpun sock system?
I'm looking to use something this Winter that will work well with Mickey Mouse boots.

Try 1 pair and see how you like it. There are 2 versions..a white and a green both go with a thin poly liner sock.
I wore them both versions in boots while outdoors and working outside. The socks do keep your feet warm however when I removed my leather boots at the end of the day the sweat would be on the outside of the socks...and the inside of the footwear was damp with mositure. Techspun socks have the pile/nap on the outside of the sock.
So I experimented.
Tried a THIN Smartwool dress sock as a liner instead of the poly liner and the dual Techspun system performed well.
Then I experimented more. Went with Thor Los and Smartwool socks and different combos of both-and turned the socks inside out so that the cushioning nap is on the OUTSIDE...yes, like the Techspun socks-I turned my socks inside out to create my own cheaper Techspun sock. Interesting result is that I have noted that my feet actually stay drier with the pile on the outside of the sock rather then being next to your feet.
The Techspun socks have no separate cushioning like a standard sock. Instead, the sock is just the same thickness all over. They run tight and take up a lot of room in footwear good if you have big boots.
Smartwool used to make a very thin wool dress sock with zero cushioning/padding. Don't know if they still make this type of sock but it was great to use as a liner sock. If you use this type along with a heavier Smartwool or ThorLo you can get the same effect or better than the Techspuns.
You might also want to look into using a GI jungle boot insert mesh type or a Canadian military mukluk mesh insert in the bottom of your Mickey Mouse boots as well.

I tried them once. They sucked, wrong size, terrible fit, couldn't do a thing.
Then I put them on my feet.

I use a level 1 5.11 sock and then a 100% virgin wool sock over that in my 400g thinsulate boots for the winter. Was looking at getting some merino wool socks, but I get the other ones free. ;)

By "Mickey Mouse boots", do you mean the big rubber inflated boots with the air valve?
If so you can just wear them with regular socks and your feet will be toasty warm even in freezing weather. Just remember to close the air valve or you defeat the purpose.

I use Lorpen socks, in very cold weather it is a system of thermolite liners and thermolite thick socks, or "polartec power stretch" socks, with goretex boots
