There's a good chance that they were taken off the hand of a dead Soviet soldier :(

Hardly, it was very sought-after barter item, officers before deployment took 5-6 watches, to exchange on Japanese VCR or TV. Knowing trade culture they will swear God, his mother and children, it's personal watches of general Gromov himself. OTOH yeah there is a chance :-(

Very. maybe they loose to top-line swiss ones, but very accurate, and not overpriced by marketing means. Well, there are China made fakes of them, so it says something.

These photos of the official military watches collection. Special watches wasn't on sale ever. Watches were given certain categories of SU\Ru military men from military warehouse only. Military man should return watch to warehouse after certain operation period. The small part of watches for Soviet Army (not for AF and NAVY) from the order of Soviet Ministry of Defense was on sale short time after 1991. If you see on sale these models of watches now - these are copies or fakes... For example native "Shturmanskie" for pilots of the Soviet Air Force very rare. You can buy natural watch at some expilots or collectors only. Yes, a lot of copies on sale now but it absolutely different watches.

In fact, are not official watches of the Ministry of Defense of Russia. This model of watch not military equipment. We don't receive these watches from a military warehouse for use... In general it's a souvenir. The low price. Bad quality. For example, I took photo by my mobile phone in our military shop on my AF base today. We can see the price. The price of 45 dollars... It's a cheap souvenir..., or gift to the lowest rank military man (soldiers) for use during the currency military service of one-two year only. They can not regret that watch and use everywhere - water, dirt. They can break, lose them...., and not to cry......
In the Soviet period it there was one of model for Army but in Soviet Army wasn't officially used. It was the qualitative model for heavy use. You could receive it as a gift or could buy in military shop personally... We didn't receive these watches from a military warehouse for use...Now in Russia it is similar model but a poor quality copy.
Special military equipment not for sale.
