Tongan Marines?

Hello everybody. I was wondering if anyone has pictures of the Tongan troops that just deployed in Iraq? It's probably still early as they just deployed, but just thought I should ask. I'm new here too, my name is Justin, and hopefully I can add pictures soon too. :D This is such a great forum, it's where I come when I look for military pictures. Thanks again.

My comment wasn't so much a commendation of Tongan courage (though I do appreciate it) but rather a shot at others who could contribute in all sorts of ways other than with troops but refuse to. I'm sorry you missed that.

well god bless them, 10% of their military is a big chunk. also, they dont have any more balls then anyone else, but, i'd say they have better morals.

I had to look Tonga up on the map lol. True that, they've got a pair for sure.

Met up with a couple of these guys in the Solomons last year. Believe Tonga only sent a platoon or something for the RAMSI deployment, mainly security for the Aussie camps etc, but also for ops in the Polynesian parts of the SI.
Definately not someone you'd be messing with. Polynesians are naturally big, or huge rather, muscular people and seeing as they're armed forces are so small, more funding goes into training and equipment. They were mainly using Aussie webgear with some woodland type BDU's, also lugging Galil rifles around if i'm not mistaken. Had a chat with one platoon seargents. Had a seemingly very impressive record on deployments around and about.
Anyhow, try searching the Aussie OP Anode website for pictures of them. Not that many, but a couple at least...

look at him make the Aussie somehow smaller in the eyes of the camera... that is without special effects... 45 of those guys is a good number u shoot one the others would rip u a new asshole :)

There are a few Wallabies getting around this week with fractures, bruises, strains ect to say that messing with Tongans (or any islander) is not the best idea.
Looks like the boys didn't bring any field kit with them, all that gear was brand new, straight out of the Q store.

Pacific Islanders make the best Section Machine gunners. I've had a few serve with me and they often carried double frontline, never complained, played fantastic rugby for the Battalion, could drink like fish and were very reliable.

They'll be an asset to their multi-national force commander in Iraq. God bless and godspeed to them for a safe deployment.
