i don't understand the origin of this map. is this the grand plan they waged WW2 for? (the legend reads pink means japanese empire, and orange stands for its allies)

soviet union still alive.. china chopped down to numerous republics, and more strikingly, as far as i understand, the north america is now made of the US, confederation of american aborigines, and a small patch of canada(most likely french speaking). i mean, let alone their own 'east asian prosperity commonwealth,' how could japan have manipulated nations and peoples of the world to this extent?

Hmm lets take a look at what the Japanese did when they had the power to influence it's neighbors. They invaded, massacred the locals, then denied that they ever did it. If I lived in that area I'd want nothing to do with them. And no communist China (it's hilarious that your still using that term) is infact downsizing it's enormous army. And why shouldn't they have a strong military? They are just learning from experience. Look what happened the last time they had a weak government and a ineffective military.

The overwhelming force applied was absolutely necessary to stop the war, otherwise they would have fought to the very last man.

I can't help but notice your overly convenient memory lapse concerning Japanese behavior towards POW's, and the conquered populations under their control. The Battan death march, rape of Nanking, the Japanese occupation of the Philippines certainly don't speak well of the Japanese version of "civilized" behavior patterns. The atrocities committed in each of these cases alone are more than enough justification for was done in return to the Japanese.

Where the hell did you get the idea that I was only pointing fingers at the Japanese and the the world revolves around me? I've read accounts of the war from almost all the nations in that area. This is mere speculation and hind site though, because we can't know if they would have or not. During that time there was no sign that the Japanese were willing to surrender, and based on their experiences in the Pacific islands, the US had no desire to wade through the Japanese home islands at the cost of millions of lives. The atomic bomb at that time was the most simple, effective, and life saving method that people could think off.

Yeah, the Generals were stubborn, so I guess we needed some convincing. It would take more then a few weeks to defeat Japan conventionally. Plus, there would be MORE civilian casualties in urban fighting, according to most estimates.

IMO, not everyone hates Japanese. I, for one, don't hate Japanese. I can understand the reasons after the anti-Japanese things, but undeniably every country in the region benefits directly or indirectly from trading or other activities with Japan. I am not saying everyone should throw away history textbooks and embrace Japanese pop culture. But it is also important to realize that not every single Japanese is responsible for the Japanese invasion back in the 30's and 40's. And I believe they've had their lesson. You can blame on their government or whatever, but I don't think every Japanese citizen agreed with their government decisons.

From time to time some Japanese cabinet member came up and claimed that there was no Nanjing massacre and they just "entered" the Asian continent to help the people from Western imperialism. Of course their textbooks do not tell of the wrongdoings they committed during WWII.

The war crimes against Chinese committed by the Japanese:

(1) The invasion itself.

(2) 15 million Chinese were killed.

(3) LIVE human experiment. Not just on Chinese, other Allied soldiers were alse used.

(4) Biological weapons were used in China.

(5) Chemical weapons left behind in China ARE STILL HAUNTING the Chinese. Some Chinese got killed when they dug up some chemical weapons last year.
