An Australian man who unwittingly found himself embroiled in a conspiracy to oust US President (http://uk.news.yahoo.com/fc/george-bush.html) Barack Obama has vowed to be more careful about what he posts on the Internet.

Adelaide public servant David Bomford was plucked from obscurity when US political campaigners released a copy of a birth certificate at the weekend that supposedly showed Obama was born in Kenya.
The campaigners, known as "birthers," point out that if Obama was born in Africa (http://uk.news.yahoo.com/africa.html), rather than Hawaii as US records show, he would not be eligible to be president, since only natural-born US citizens can hold the top office.
However, the document they released turned out to be a fake based on a copy of Bomford's birth certificate that he had posted on a friend's genealogy website.
Bomford said it was hard to believe "a grey-haired old guy sitting in a corner in quiet old Adelaide" had been swept up in a push to unseat the most powerful man in the world.
"It is interesting someone from here being involved in a conspiracy -- that is so funny," he told public broadcaster ABC.
Bomford said he knew nothing about the "birthers'" claims.
He said the fake Kenyan birth certificate contained his personal details and was clearly based on his own South Australian document.
"It's definitely a copy of my certificate. It's so laughable it's ridiculous," he said.
Bomford said he only expected relatives researching their family tree would be interested in the document when it was posted on the Internet.
"I was very, very surprised that anyone would even find it on the net," he said. "I'll be certainly contacting my friend who runs that web and asking him to remove it."

Call me a cynic if you will, but there is one idea I read about which I find interesting. The original birth certificate probably checks out just fine. And its true, if the original document is brought out, it will make the birther movement go away, or at least most of it. But the Obama administration might not want the birther movement to go away. So long as the birther movement is alive and well, the Republicans look like tinfoil wearing nutters to the majority. And as long as the Republicans look like nutters, the Democrats remain in power and look good, no matter how little has improved.

"He said, she said, I saw it on the internet", is not good enough for some people.
Yet, isn't this exactly what 'Birthers' do? Obama's guilty till proven innocent, "proof" he's really a Kenyan usurper is posted on the internet, and anything running contrary to it is swept under the carpet.
If I was attacking your birth certificate or your morality, you'd (justifiably) expect ME to provide proof that you're a liar, wouldn't you?
Not to mention the general plausibility of the whole thing. Somehow Obama would have risen to the White House without anyone ever realizing that OMG the original birth certificate says Mombasa, Kenya! And by a funny coincidence, no government agency, no investigative journalist (the kind who always finds out that Mr So-and-So has a mistress and Mrs This-and-That didn't pay up her taxes in 1976), no political opponent would have noticed this little snag until the 2008 Presidential election? That one doesn't fly, it doesn't even flap its wings, it doesn't even have wings to begin with.
So yes, it really is becoming the GOP's tar baby. Instead of the proposals and counter-proposals of capable Republican leaders - always a plus in times of crisis because then people tend to listen - we have a sort of "waaah, unfair, he shouldn't have won!" perma-whine. I can't believe the GOP leadership hasn't come down on Birthers like a ton of bricks already, to stop the parasites drowning out their message. The Democratic party probably cannot believe its luck.
Look up "too clever by half" on the internet. With almost 50% of voters getting suspicious its anything but smart.
That's called smart strategy.
Comedian Patton Oswalt just posted this on his facebook. Made me laugh. Thought I'd share
I don't care that the Kenyan birth certificate has the name of a laundry detergent on it, or that the dates of Kenya actually becoming a republic are incorrect, or that the watermark is in German, and that it's signed by Fozzy Bear and Spider-Man. I want my country back! And by "back", I mean I want a white president.
I know droolers that STILL...claim he'll be dethroned soon due to his African birth and the pocket Koran he carries...

No, nice attempt at generalizing those who question fearless leader.
There hasn't been proof he's a Kenyan, or he would not be in his position, obviously. The only people sweeping anything under the carpet are the Administration and their petty little zealots. The issue can go away over night.

How ridiculous. If I was trying to get a job working for you, you would be completely justified in demanding proof I was who I said I was. I'd like to see you try and get a job, and make your would be employer prove you graduated from high school. I mean this should all be basic logic for most.

Not sure if randoms can walk into a Goverment building and easily obtain Birth records of any indivdual that itself would give rise to people stealing identities incurring a security risk especially if persons wanted to gain access to Military bases etc ..
And if your details were stolen would you laugh it off and forget about it or seek a heft damages claim by seeking some form of compensation from Local Goverment as i doubt they would like for it be dragged through the courts

Hahahaha no, it won't. He can (and already has) been confirmed as being born in the US but the conspiracy nuts aren't going to let hard facts and evidence get in their way. If that is all it takes to make this 'go away overnight', then moon landing and 9/11 conspiracies would be a thing of memory as opposed to being the spawning grounds of idiots on the Internet.
I actually think this Birthers movement is a massive win for the Democrats and they want to keep them around as long as possible. Every time there is a Birther who interrupts a speech of a Republican politician, or a town hall meetings, etc etc, with an outburst as to how Obama is not an American, it taints more and more the image of the Republican party by association.
I'm sure that the Democrat party strategists are praying every day that the Birther movement is still going strong come next election time.

"He said, she said, I saw it on the internet", are not hard facts, but considering Obama's idiotic supporters love of things like MTV, it's not surprising that they would consider gossip and internet garbage a legitimate source of evidence.

The veracity of Obama's birth certificate was proclaimed by the governor of Hawai, a Republican, as well as authorities from the Hawai health services.
A little more than just an internet rumour.
Birthers denounce the notion that Obama was born in Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital in Honolulu on Aug. 4, 1961, despite court rulings and statements by Fukino and Hawaii's Republican governor, Linda Lingle (http://content.usatoday.com/topics/topic/People/Politicians,+Government+Officials,+Strategists/Governors,+Mayors/Linda+Lingle).

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner. Commanding, I think you are one of the few people who gets it. While Obama is the President, you don't have to like him personally, or agree with his policies, and decisions. As long as you stay within established guidelines, you are free to criticize him, as is your right as an American. Now what I do have an issue with is all these conspiracy nuts whining about fake birth cert, idiots in the military claiming they don't have to follow his LAWFUL ORDERS, etc. Just as I had a problem with people crying that Bush was plotting and planning this, that and the other when he was in office.

I really don't care about his birth certificate....I want to see his Selective Service Card.
I had to sign up for the draft even after completing 4 years of active duty in 1982.
He's about the same age I am and Selective Service went back into effect in 1980.
If he didn't register for the draft that's a $250,000 fine, 5 years in Prison and he cannot hold any position in the executive Branch of our Government.
If I had to sign up for the draft he damned sure had to!

How many past presidents have had to show their Selective Service Card? How many past presidents have had to show proof of American birth more rigorously than Obama has? I'm pretty sure the answer is very close to "none". This whole bs is racism in disguise, if he was white there would be none of this "Birthers" movement crap or similar.

You obviously don't remember the little ****fit the left had when they found out McCain was born in Panama.
Every President I can remember has had American Parents so the question was mote. Wanting a President who actually qualifies to be President is not racist.
If Obama is anything other than American then he is not Kenyan but Indonesian, since it seems he was adopted by his step-father and Indonesia doesn't allow dual citizenship.
Focusing on his Birth Certificate when everything else about him is fishy is counterproductive. There are so many other ways he wouldn't qualify to be President.
But with all his records locked and every lawsuit, of the hundreds that are on the books, gets thrown out with out anyone looking at the evidence, we won't find out until he either finishes his term or gets impeached.

The state of Hawaii swore they had just rechecked Obama's vault copy of his birth certificate, and it was genuine. Shortly thereafter, Lou Dobbs broke the story that the vault copy no longer existed. The records office had lost it eight years earlier when they were switching their records to microfilm. But if you think this kind of thing raises any legitimate questions, you are a 'birther'.
Just so we know what we are talking about here, the copy that Obama released on the internet was a certification of live birth. It contains hardly any information.

What a lot of people want to see, and what Obama has reportedly spent $millions$ in legal fees to keep suppressed is his certificate of live birth. Here is an example of that document:
http://www.gopmom.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/hawaii-birth-certificate-1963.jpg
It contains, among other things, the signature of one his parents, where the parents resided, their occupation, and the name of the hospital or clinic that delivered the child. The fact that Obama has refused to release this document is the source of many of the questions around this whole thing.

You are a Birther in Chief. There is no logical explanation to your apprehension and hysteria.
What is your theory? You are saying that it is quite easy to be come citizen of The US even when you are born in another country? or that the whole of Hawaii were in on this cover-up since 1961?
If he wasn't born in Hawaii, are you then claiming that he isn't a citizen of this country? If he is a citizen, then how did he acquire his citizenship? by naturalization? if so, it shouldn't be difficult to show that his mother filed his naturalization papers at some point. The final possibility is that his is an illegal alien of some sort.
My conclusion? you are simply misguided.
