Hello all,

I have recently sold my CAI build AK74 Tantal Sporter in 5.45X39 and am now in the process of looking for a new AK74.

recently I was on Lancaster's website (http://www.lancasterarms.com/) and noticed they had Bulgarian AK74 kits on Nodac Spud receivers for as low as $659.99. I then looked at J&G sales (http://www.jgsales.com/index.php/rifles/ak-47-and-rpk-rifles/cPath/209_214) and saw they too have Bulgarian kits on Nodac Spud receivers for $609.99 by CAI. Here is my dalima, this will be my second AK and I want a good one but the lancaster wont be ready for two weeks while the one at J&G is already built. What is the better choice? Should I buy the Lancaster or the CAI? What is your opinion about Lancaster? Is there something better out there for the same amount? I only have $700 as I saved $50 and sold the other for $650.

Thanks for the feedback.

Go with a Bulgarian kit build on a Nodak Spud receiver.

I'd be patient and go with the site below or post your question theakforum.net and you'll get a lot of good feedback

Guys at Henderson will build anything you want.. you might want to just give them a call..

If you really have the $$$$... also look at Krebs. They are the absolute best AK manufacture in the Country.

I have to agree with SGMLee on the Krebs stuff. The extra cost is well worth the quality. I have quit a few Krebs parts on both my (CIA)Yugo M70B2 & my (IZHMASH) Saiga 12 shotgun converted. The Krebs peep sights are well worth there weight in gold. Been paling around with a retired Army Ranger who put me on to the vertues of the AK-74,47 platforms & I never looked back. KREBS ALL THE WAY!

Dude you've saved 700 buck, you can save a few more to get the Krebs stuff no dought!

I third this. I have a Krebs Custom converted 7.62x39 Saiga with AK-100 series folding stock and furniture. I understand that working the reciever for the side folders takes a bit of work and I couldn't be more pleased. Krebs rifles cost a pretty penny but it's absolutely worth it. Amazing quality worksmanship.
