I was just turned onto the following:

www.maplight.org

I'm guessing this website, or something like it, could represent a means by which the internet can be used effectively and impartially(meaning forget the party, and follow the money) to present data simply, clearly, and quickly to help drive real political reform at the grassroots level.....follow the money and compare the voting record.

Everyone knows how much TransFats are in their Cheese Doodles.......but what if everyone knew exactly how corrupt their local Congressional Representative is in realtime?

Discuss......

We should have a contest to see who can find the most corrupt and the least corrupt Member of Congress. :)

I’d love to see Maplight and other similar sites have available some sort of 3D Dendrogram cluster analysis chart to make influence tracking and visualization for campaigns, Bill voting, Regulatory actions, lobbying and national demographics stupid easy to interpret. It’s nice to see simple numbers but when you render the mess into a good chart, all sorts of cool patterns emerge to dig deeper into.

I did demographics studies decades ago for three election cycles for both the Republicrat and Democlican parties using what was then advanced data collection and analysis tools. Dear lord, with the internet and simple PC’s, the technology must be nearing Hari Seldon’s predictive abilities.

Sites like unfluance.primate.net and weshowthemoney.com are getting there but need improvement.

Good stuff!
