OK, I know I can't be the only who's trying to get the best deal for his dollar, so I figure I'd post a thread where you can list the cheapest ammo in your area. If you see a deal, post the local, or contact info for the retailer, after you get box or two for yourself.

I don't see why not. I'm a firm believer in having multiple shopping options. I also think it'd be helpful if you posted comments on service, and hipping costs if you've dealt with them personally.

My local indoor range in Memphis (Range USA) sells bulk reloaded pistol ammo. .45 ACP is $115/500 rounds. It's pretty good stuff unless you want to shoot it out of a match barrel with a tight chamber.
Last year I got a good deal on XM193 5.56 from http://www.outdoormarksman.com/ and earlier this year I got a good deal on 5.56 from http://www.buyammo.com/.
I basically decide what I'm willing to spend and then search around to see if I can get that, or as close to it as possible. It's been a few months now, but if I can get new .45 or 5.56/.223 for less than $.40 a round it definitely something to consider.

Just did a search and had me a big WTF moment..
Is it really legal to sell these motherfukcers in the US?
I remember using these when I was in the service, and NO WAY do these belong in civilian ownership..

AIM for surplus .223/5.56, Walmart for 9mm and Fed Bulk .22. Natchezz for .22 in my bolt action .22 and 10/22 for use with my silencer.
Problems with the ammo? When I was pushing them through my Ruger 10/22 I seem to recall there was some serious fouling problems due to the wax(?) coating they use, and stopped using them. This was quite some time ago, but maybe they still have the same issue...

I think that's a criminal investigation waiting to happen - for a couple of people!

This is off topic, but, I remember back in 05, I ran into a couple of Marines, who'd just come back from Iraq, trying to sell a local gun dealer some Glcoks they'd "picked up from the IP". Needless to say the dealer didn't want any part of it.

Legal in the US.
1. Not enough HE in head to classify it as a destructive device under Title 26..
2. Also under explosive laws 18 USC 845(4) in is exempt because it is considered small arms ammunition.
3.Only way to charge is to prove it is stolen from U.S. Military

Insanity to me but I guess the land of the free is dangerously free.
My disbelief is based on my experience with this ammunition, I just find it baffling. But thanks for the clarification with regards to the legal framework, good we have G-men around:)
Just out of curiosity, what kind of trouble would the guy be in for stealing these 10 rounds of MK211?
Cheers
Andreas.

Anywhere from an Article 15 (nonjudicial punishment) to a courts martial (under UCMJ) or a Federal beef for Theft of Government Property, depending on the facts.

^^^Perhaps also a Customs violation for "importing" ammunition.

While I'm thinking about it, any of you guys know where I can pick up some "reasonably" priced frangible 5.56 ammo? I'm on a waiting list here. I'd like to be able to put a few mags down range on our next range day, and we can only shoot frangible on the PD firing range.

Doubt this counts as "reasonably priced", but the best that I know of.

Actually that's not to bad, as .45 cal ammo around here was selling for close to $45 a box last month, and you had to get on a waiting list for that.

Looking for bone cheap 7.62 x 54R for my Nagant.
Problems with the ammo?
shooting dirt outa the rifle would have been cleaner then this stuff....a few key holes, flyers were common...stovepipe and extraction problems were almost constant (it's an autoloader) as well as feeding problems with the magazines...plus i'd say about 30-50 rds of them did not fire (too much for me)
