Try out for Sayeret Shekem. Hey, the hardest course in the IDF is the cooks course (kours tabachim) -
because nobody has ever passed it!!LOL

BTW - Comment above about IDF having 30+ SF units, it sometimes seems that there are more SF units in the IDF then there are soldiers in kravi.
Things have changed since you were in Israel, the motivation to Join the elite units or "at least" to combat units is very high now and the numbers show a huge growth in the number of people that go to combat units.

The winter camo for our troops is just really baggy white pullovers, and since Canada has alot of Coniferous trees there is still green in the winter time, so this would work.
And if this dude was wearing the same stuff in the same time frame (winter) but it was during war time, the enemy would be dead or knocked out before the soldier was spotted.

I have to concur on that one, red goggles or at least red shades are the best during winter time. I only use red goggles during skiing, no other colour can soothe my eyes with the high albedo of pure snow...

Red glasses are good in winter and bright areas.

I have to disagree. I have Oakleys A-Frame with the standard reddish-amber lens, and they suck in every conditions except clear sky, bright sun. Flat light, overcast, evening, slight fog or snow and you see f*ck all. It's all uniform white, you can't see the texture of the snow, can't see ice patches, can' see the bumps and holes. And the eyes straining to see something are a pain, you see red halos after 15 min. I keep a pair of Bolle smoke-tint goggles for everything but sunny clear sky.

BTW, great photos, all! :)

Those are orange that the jtf2 op is wearing. I wear the same and I ski alot. They work better then any other color of goggle that ive tried. You also have to remember they dont want alot of reflection eithing in which case orange is a good color too. Another thing to remember is that they slightly amplify the light, and thats a good thing considering in Canada you only get 8 hours of sunshine in the winter.

Well, in that case the Finnish one's rank pretty high. To date I haven't seen a single picture of any real* Finnish special forces unit**.

*Depends a little on what you consider to be special forces. FDF combat divers or special/parajaegers hardly compare i.e. with the SAS, since they're made out conscripts (who serve a maximum of 12 months), although they're considered to be "special forces" back here.

** For example, police has the "unit Karhu", used in CT&HRT-missions. Army's most elite are probably the members of the KoVa-team. Frontier Guard also has highly trained "readiness teams" used for ship boarding, and catching armed person who crossed the border illegally.
