REGIMENTAL PRAYER

Almighty, merciful, and loving Father,
you are the one who hears all our prayers and grants our petitions.

We ask you to remember, as we do,
the tremendous sacrifice made by those who went before us.
They have given their lives so that we might live and breathe freely.
We ask you to receive them into your hands.

Father, give us the strength and wisdom to learn from their example,
to uphold freedom and life at home and around the world.

Keep us vigilant as we guard the frontiers of freedom.

Give our leaders the wisdom and the strength to lead well.

Grant all of us courage and confidence.
Be, for all of us, troopers, a wise counsel in keeping peace
and a strong shield for us against our enemies.
Oh heavenly Father, give us the determination
that the peace and freedom won at such a high price be lasting!

Father, hold all of the troopers in the palm of your almighty hand
and protect them in the shadow of your wings.

Amen.

Primarily PMC's and CPD's are using SUV's. Perhaps a few SOF's have used them also, but certainly not as standard Army transportation. M113's have been used in Iraq from the beginning of the occupation. I've posted LOTS of pic's over the last year with them in Iraq.

SIBATE, COLOMBIA: US military instructors (L and R) train Colombian policemen in Sibate, 50 km from Bogota 11 June 2004. The Colombian Government, with the cooperation of the United States, has inaugurated the first Latino American anti-kidnapping school, dedicated to train special forces. The costs of this cooperation program is estimated in 25 million Dollars.

Then there are those CIA subsidiaries hired for the air patrols, like those Defense Department contractors from Microwave California Inc. (http://www.pbs.org/newshour/updates/colombia_02-25-03.html) that got captured by the FARC ...

From what I see, this picture was taken in the UK in 1988 at the Farnborough Air Trade. It was a privately funded project from the Cessna Company using the very potent civil Caravan I (thus the civil registration on an armed airplane) and apparently only (this) one prototype flew. The Pentagone did not buy the concept.

Are you sure this aircraft is currently in use in Colombia??

I am aware of the refurbished OV-10D Bronco repainted in glossy black for defoliant spraying missions but never heard of this Cessna in operational use ;) If you have more info on this weird subject, please share with us p-)

Positive. Please, don´t ask more ... although I wish to tell you more, I can´t.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Check this:

These photos span my wartime deployments from Afghanistan to Iraq, flying 74 combat missions.

I got my first real digital (Sony F707) just before I left for Afghanistan. We flew out of Manas, Kyrgyzstan down to Afghanistan over some of the roughest terrain on the planet. As it was, there was a lot of flying but not much “work”, so I took pictures, some 4000 in the air and on the deck.

I got home to be redeployed to Kuwait four months later. Needless to say things were a bit busier there and photo chances rarely came. Rather they were there; I just had more pressing things to do. There were a few times the camera ended up in the back of the cockpit. The Sony F707 proved to be very reliable throughout the beatings and sandstorms.

Amen.

Not 100% sure, but:

I think those men are from the "Marinesicherungsstaffel" = Navy Security Brigade.

Their task is to give security to every single german naval facility. Their special mission in out of area is to be the bording teams in operations like Operation "Enduring Freedom", "Active Endeavor" and "Strog" (Strait of Gibraltar) or even take part in secure US bases situated in Germany itself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have not seen this discussed here: do female soldiers in the US Army or the Marines go out on patrol? What about on convoys when the risk of attack is high?

I have not seen any press accounts of female US military personnels involved in firefights, roadside ambushes, etc, or any female casualties from IED attacks on convoys. With so many female soldiers in combat service and support, I'm sure many of the convoys have female soldiers on board?

Either some caption writer is not very gender-conscious, or that is one feminine male soldier.

Women are not allowed in Combat Arms MOS. That means no girls in Infantry, Armor, Artillery, SOFs, etc.

However, women are allowed to be MPs and they've seen their fair share of combat too.

Their methods may be different from yours. It does not make them any less professional, or turn them into poor soldiers. It says they are ready to fight, and they're not sitting on their ass in front of a computer talking alot of smack.

I'll thank you to remember this comment. That way you will never comment on a photo unless you are in it. Should simplify life for the rest of us greatly.

And yes, I was being sarcastic, but also noting the improved discipline of the Iraqis. If you look at pics from the formation of ICDC to now, I think you'll note a difference.

Also, I don't give a dam who you are, walking around with your finger on the trigger IS unproffesional. Thats why I noted the improvement they were displaying.

If you are still going to flip out because I commented on a photo, you may be on the wrong website. Have a nice day.

I don't know about patrols, but they're out, transporting supplys, doing civ affairs, providing medical, and performing MP duties. There have been female soldiers killed in Iraq in convoy related attacks and mortar/rocket attacks on positions.

Not exactly 100% true. SOF "Units" have women in support roles. As for women in Iraq they are involved in almost every aspect from convoys to MP patrols to flying top cover in helicopters/CASEVAC.

First pictures of a pair of 29 (Reserve) Squadron Typhoons which have deployed from their base at Warton to Singapore. The aircraft undertook the type's first operational detachment as part of a sales push in the Far Eastern colony. En-route to their destination, stops were made in Cyprus, Abu Dhabi and Sri Lanka offering locals a rare glimpse of the RAF's future multi-role aircraft.

Cooooooooool Typhoons! thank you.

Guns? What gu...OH, THOSE guns. Yeah, AMD-65s again, with 7.62 bakelite mags, which we here in the states would pay a small arm and part of a leg for.

If you'll remember, there was a female soldier who was KIA several months back and it turned into a big deal because she had 2 sisters that were in-country as well. Also I remember watching Dateline about 2 months ago and that had a piece on another female soldier who was an MP and she was KIA.

As for the Iraqi army guys go, those dudes are looking more bad-ass everyday. I'll give them a hooah anyday.

Yes, I remember that story now. Wasn't she killed from mortar fire inside her base camp?

I seem to remember hearing somewhere, at some time, that those propeller things help with fuel efficiency on things that hang from wings such as drop-tanks, ECM pods etc..not really sure I understand how though...heh

I'll see if I can find something on it, but don't hold me to it.

Hard to believe considering that there are no US naval bases in Germany.

???

I don't know anything about US Naval facilities in Germany. There are no.
But there are a few Army and Air Force bases which were providing airlift capability during all major operations in Europe/Iraq/Afghanistan.
The US plan to reduce their bases within Germany and get new ones in more eastern/southern parts of the earth like Europe, Arabia and Asia.

I mean I find it hard to believe that Marine Sicherung is wasted for regular guard duties in US-Bases. Considering they are very short on man power right now with base protection Djibouti, Kenia and Gibraltar and boarding missions at horn of africa. That's all I wanted to say.

Still always makes me want to pound my head on the wall when the media can't seem to get a simple aircraft identification correct. A Blackhawk and an Apache look nothing like each other. I'm amazed that these reporters of truth never seem to run this stuff by a fact checker of any sort.

US media types are just as bad. Anyone in a uniform is a soldier even when it's clear that they're Air Force personnel working on a fighter plane with big ol' "USAF" on the side.

Best was one of those "investigative journal" shows 60 minutes, 20/20, etc. and some Femal talking head type talking about a us police department that had a Ranger armoured car. (The old Air Force "Peacekeeper" basically a Dodge Ramcharger with some Cadloy armor) and she was exclaiming - "WHAT DOES A POLICE DEPARTMENT NEED WITH A TANK?!?"

Holding your finger inside the trigger guard is a universally bad idea. Accidental discharges do not distinguish between nationalities.
