From the handguards its either an Israeli FAL or a T48 from the US trials.

Did the Israeli FAL used a 'Inch FAL' frontsight? I can't remember that for sure. If so, i't looks Isralei, but that soldier also looks 1960 vintage USGI...

The rifle looks like the FN FAL version used by the Israelis at least (style of front grip and no flash hider)
The helmet carried by the guy in the pic incidentaly looks more like a French M-1951 than a WW-2 vintage US M-1.

The sol' is my father....from what i know the pic is from 1974..
BTW : the pic is from "Ramallah" in the times that sol' walked there with out armored cars and stuff...good time compearing to now.

Yep still used in some of the paramilitary forces in India. Some army squads still have one or two of the troopers carry the FN FAL (on patrol) in kashmir cos they love the stopping power and range it gives over the 5.56, specially against suicide attackers.

It's more than likely an Israeli FAL, they had CAL-style handguards and no flash hider.
