These celebrities claim to pledge for a whole boatload of liberal issues, which is fine but the 2 pledges to "serve" or "be a servant to" President Obama...what?...isn't the government there to serve us? We are now to be subserviant to Obama...this is warped..oh yeah..this is being shown to school children in various cities. They should be honest and say " I pledge to f*ck the country up beyond repair"

Yeah well a lot of them COULD pledge to join the military and put a few years of their life to the total support of the country...IMO

(pledging to not let the memory of the next generation of americans be forgotten means little to me, pledging to not shoot the finger while he is driving? give me a break)

They are all good ideas. What's wrong with conserving the environment and helping out in community service? Nothing. The Boy Scouts do those things, and Boy Scouts traditionally lean more conservative.

but...

The ending was a tad weird.

plus I really can't stand celebrities. What about Service members saying pledges? Firemen? Policemen? Even a gritty steel worker? No. F***ing celebrities.

Whoho, young horses.

Where do I stand? I am Swiss, so I am neutral ;). I would have voted for Obama, because as soon as McCain choose Palin, at his age, having Palin being president of the most powerful nation of the world, wouldn't have been a risk I would be willing to take.

That said, I see little differnce between "standing behind the president", "serving the president" and "don't ask what your country can do for you, but waht you can do for your country".

Is serving that bad? I have no problem serving, doesn't make me a bad person, if I serve somebody, waiters serve, doctors serve, and yes, the guys in the army serve their country.

So where you make the connection to their pledge and "to f*ck the country up beyond repair" I don't know.

In America you serve the country..you do not serve or "be a servant to" any politician or president. The government in the U.S. serves the people, not the other way around.
The other "pledges" are mostly just goofy liberal feel good garbage. Only flushng after a " duece"..getting a hybrid...not using plastic bags....oh yeah these are earth changing pledges, but again, thats not what I have an issue with..it's the idea of serving Obama and "being a servant to" Obama...thats not American.

What if I want to leave all my goddamed lights on all the time?
What if i love my obnoxious car?
What if I enjoy drinking water out of plastic bottles?

I don't want to find the humor in everything, and flipping people off whilst driving is a national pastime..

That video is aggravating as hell, not to mention its filled with Hollywood assbags telling me what they pledge... at least Carlos Mencia was left out of this little abortion of a video.

Maybe you dont understand the basis of the American Constitution. It is IMPLICITLY stated that one owes allegiance to to the Constitution.. ONLY to the Consitution and no one else. By pledging to an individual (even if it is the office) it goes against the nature and reason for the United States. Which was to have a county for the people by the people not ruled by any one person or office only govern by the Constitution.

If all those so-called "celebrities" want to pledge something, why don't they pledge to entertain the troops fighting so they can sell their ridiculous movies and tv shows...or they can pledge to give1/4 of their wealth to help the homeless

In America you serve the country..you do not serve or "be a servant to" any politician or president. The government in the U.S. serves the people, not the other way around.

So this :

VICE PRESIDENT **** CHENEY IS adamant about not running for president in 2008. Asked by host Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday if he might change his mind, Cheney answered with a firm no. "I've got my plans laid out," he said. "I'm going to serve this president for the next four years, and then I'm out of here. . . . In 2009, I'll be 68 years old. And I've still got a lot of rivers I'd like to fish and time I'd like to spend with my grandkids, and so this is my last tour. I don't plan to run for anything."

and this :

"ANDREW CARD: If I were to go back and forth over every alleged quote in that article, it wouldn't be appropriate. The important thing is the White House is working very well. Karen Hughes has been a major contributor to the successes of this president, as has the rest of the White House team, and we work very, very well together. And our job is to serve the president. And he is serving the American people well, because his staff does a good job for him --"

Anyway. These are very pious pledges, but turning them into acts is something else.

Exactly. The elite of this country do not practice what they preach. They are only concerned about their own habitat. Although I agree with the conservation of water and planting trees part, they want the 90% of the country under them (in terms of wages and purchasing power) to be the ones that do without.

ps. there was not one in that vid that I would consider shaking hands with, except maybe Anthony Kiedis.

What did I miss? I'm not plugging in headphones @work. I think I saw dressed down rich people saying they were going to do stuff. I saw a brieft glimpse of who I thought was Courtney Cocks and the husband from Scream, Dave Grohl, P-Diddle and maybe Dustin Hoffman? When was this made? I would have understood after he got elected with the level of unbridled enthusiasm some had, but you've got to be pretty brain dead unaware to peddle stuff for the prez right about now.

I don't know about Anthony Kiedis. It's hard to bla bla bla about politics when your best music was made when you were on smack.

Not so sure in the case of the Vice-President, actually. He's elected by the American people as much as the President is, he's not a senior aide.

Anyway, so what if a celeb wants to work for Prez Obama or Prez Bush or Prez Geronimo Gomez for free? How is that suddenly deemed abominable behavior?

Sheesh, people, if you're looking for bad things to say about Obama, can't you find serious things instead of "these guys - who do not even belong to the Administration - have misused a figure of speech, down to them!", when it's not " apro-Obama health care plan guy bit off the finger of someone else!" ;)

Anthony Kiedis pledging his service to Barack Obama, then Puff Diddy with his Obama 08 shirt on, and then the group pledging to be a servant to their President.

Kind of odd, as I doubt very much they would have made the same pledge to President Bush.

The Presidents reign is short lived, where as the Country will continue to live on....maybe they should get their priorites sorted out.

Obama is the closest thing we've ever seen to a superhero... someone who has literally inspired millions of people simultaneously to step past fear, to be brave enough to hope and to go past cynicism and imagine what we could be if we were at our best. That's the stuff of legend! And Jailbreak Toys wanted to pitch in.http://www.nbcuniversalstore.com/detail.php?p=84186&v=msnbc_msnbc-news
