Next round of ground-troop rotations to Iraq announced

The U.S. military unveiled its plan today for the next round of ground-troop rotations to Iraq.
At a hearing before the House Armed Services Committee, Defense Department and Army officials laid out Operation Iraqi Freedom III – a plan to replace the 18 combat brigades now in Iraq with 17 brigades from the Army and Marine Corps.

The rotations are slated to begin this month with a brigade from the 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry) and stretch into March.

Here’s a look at the rest of the schedule and tentative deployment dates:

• The 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, the Army’s second Stryker Brigade Combat Team – November

• The 3rd Infantry Division, which will consist of two brigades from the 3rd ID; 3rd Brigade from the 1st Armored Division and the Louisiana National Guard’s 256th Brigade – November through March

• The National Guard’s 42nd Infantry Division, made up of two brigades from the 3rd ID, the Idaho Guard’s 116th Brigade and the Tennessee Guard’s 178th Brigade – December through February

• The 11th and 24th Marine Expeditionary Units – January

• The Mississippi Guard’s 155th Armored Brigade – February

• A Marine Expeditionary Force consisting of two Marine Regiments and 2nd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division – March

• The Hawaii National Guard’s 29th Brigade – March

• The 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment – March

I don't know whose poor ideas about this event , why allies must rotations ! That's so danger !

Rotations should be staggered so there would be 6 months of overlap between incoming and outgoing units.

You make a good point. However, soldiers can only take so much, and leaving in a place like Iraq for so long will only effect them negatively. Plus, as this war progresses we are learning new things aboot the enemy.. Like that Geronimoes article, we are training units in better counter-insurgent techniques, to bring at better understaning to incoming units.
