I really don't understand american politics in November of 08 Almost every american was happy with there new president and not even a year later everyone seems to hate him and I ask why? hes doing his job.

America is in a really bad spot right now and cutting back on spending in any way shape or form will only hurt the american economy more so. So yah hes spending a **** load but unline bush he has a reason and you do not go into a recession with your hand in your pockets you spend your way out. Hes not gonna try and get rid of the debt untill the states can run a surplus dfederal budget and that won't happen for at least two years.

Healthcare seems to be another big issue for americans and I don't really get it. He wants to create a public option to cover those who cannot get coverage and to keep the insurance companies honest and in check if they can't compete then they are gone. And im from Canada and public healthcare is the best way to go by far and you all complain about footing the bill for eachother but why its not expensive really its more costly to keep the healthcaree system in america the same it causing you to go bankrupt which is a good reason why your in such a tight spot.

Iraq and Afghanistan are two wars that started under a pretext of anti-terrorism and has turned into a nation building restructuring anti-insurgency role which is probably the most ****ed up situation that an invading force could be in. Alot of americans want there troops out of these countries and i don't disagree at all I want my soldiers home to but there is only one true way to bring them home and that is when there mission is complete obama knows this and setting timetables is only gonna hinder our operations these are not normal wars and they will continue for years to come.

So it seems that alot of Americans bitch about Obama but in reality I find alot of them do not understand the situtation as well as they should. Though I have met many americans who were informed and knowledgeable it just seems that they put this guy on a pedistal thinking he is just gonna fix there problems and then seven months later when not much has changed (how can much have changed anyway) they knock him down I don't get that.

Here is my rant to the American members of this board Though I respect you I have to say this. Get your goddamn heads out of your ****ing ass's wait another two years then start bitching but if you can't fix the nations problems don't expect someone else to. Its a team effort start working together be more like Canada thats why were not in a bad recession or two wars were justw aiting for you guys.

Rossdobby, although Obama's popularity ratings seem to be lower than in the beginning of the year, I think a lot of what you're seeing is a very vocal and outspoken minority. When Obama was elected last November, he was very upfront about his desire to make deep reforms in healthcare, and make it possible for every American to have health insurance. Also, anyone with a brain would have been well aware that there would be no quick and easy solutions to the economic crisis.

I do not agree with everything Obama stands for or wants to do, but like a lot of Americans, realize that he inherited a huge mess.

A lot of what you're seeing is a campaign being orchestrated by Republicans and those in the health care/insurance industry who are perfectly happy with the status quo.

It's politics, and the Democrats aren't above playing political games either.

And you can always count on the masses to be easily manipluated by playing with their emotions.

Be more like Canada.

That's now my new favorite quote.

And hey, disaster is a form of Change, too.

Pretty much what gaijinsamurai said. I live amongst Democrats, the Left and Limousine Liberals. Opinions around here are still very high of President Obama. It's a military oriented forum. The snapshot of opinion you're getting here is not surprising.

you dont understand our politics because your a foreigner.

Spending? Obama spent MORE than bush and wont stop.

Iraq and Afghanistan were both partaken in by american and European coalition. this IS NOT just a U.S. war. so shut up about it. we didn't MAKE Canada come.

as for healthcare. we don't want to kill people. we just don't want to pay for someone else's health insurance. don't tell me "ITS NOT THAT EXPENSIVE" i dont want to. and ill resist as much as possible. Ideology, and opinion. its not "evil" just different ways of thinking.

"Its a team effort start working together be more like Canada "

I don't want to be more like "Canada". GTFO.

I can talk shout about my president all i want. dont tell me to "wait" before bitching. how about you STFU about foreign countries?

Firstly, Connaught Ranger is Irish and living in Transylvania. Not part of Canada.

This thread may as well have been "Why don't more Americans like crunchy peanut butter".

Thanks for your advice about our current rectal cranial inversion but basically f*ck you, we'll sort it all out sooner or later if some dickwad doesn't shoot the guy first.

Thank you for your support.
