I got a G-mail acct. right when they first came out. I don't use it and I don't see what all the fuss is about. Can someone explain to me what the big deal is?

There should be a link towards the top of the page saying: Invite a friend to Gmail or something.

You got invited by a google employee?

Gmail is 1gb of space, with an incredibly fast interface, and the security of knowing your account will be available forever. ;)

But I thought they scan your emails, then SPAM you?

No.

They scan your email as much as every single other email provider does. How else could they scan for malicious code/spam/viruses? The only thing that irks people is that you might get context-sensitive ads next to your email. Nobody reads your email.

Plus, email is inherently insecure, as it passes openly between all nodes of the ISPs.

The notion that Gmail spams you is FUD.

There's nothing like your own internet-based POP client-like account with enough space to last for years. ;)

If somone sends an invite to me then I shall swear that any and all invites I get shall be used for members of this board only.

That is my oath, there are many like it but that one is mine.
