Patriot Act Provisions Extended
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: September 15, 2009
The Obama administration supports extending three provisions of the USA Patriot Act that are scheduled to expire at the end of the year, the Justice Department told Congress. The provisions give the government the authority to access business records, operate roving wiretaps and conduct surveillance on “lone wolf” suspects with no known link to foreign governments or terrorist groups. Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich said the administration was willing to consider stronger civil rights protections in the law “provided that they do not undermine the effectiveness” of the three provisions.

Patriot Act isnt the evil conspiracy it was made out to be, and Few Presidents will give up powers the previous ones had. Sorry but I agree with this.

Funny how you think Obama is a leftists. I mean really, he's quite centrists.
You really shouldn't lump leftist together behind Obama. "Leftists" and "Democrats" are not synonyms. To say people like Ralph Nader or Bernie Sanders are like Obama is insulting to their service and their life long activism (I mean seriously, what Obama wants doesn't come close to these guys). If by "hypocritical slugs" you mean Democrats, I absolutely agree with you. Obama was completely against the Patriot act, until he became president of course. Democratic publicly were against it, yet continued to vote for it.

Which conservative values does Pres. Obama hold that makes him a centrist? By that, what is your definition of a centrist that fit him? If you go down this route then you might find Pres. Bush along your road of thinking.

Dude! Where do you live? While he was an Illinois state senator he had one of the more Liberal records in Springfield. Look it up. He may have positioned himself as a centrist for his run for president, but his record does not back up the claim of centrist. Why are liberals afraid of Identifying themselves as such?
