Air-gun is 4.5mm right ? Can someone die by getting hit by such calibers ?

i suppose it depends on what kind of air-gun.

i've got this neat old russian ak-training rifle. basically the same body as an ak xcpt without a magazine feed, and you breech load lead bullets a little bigger than a normal metal ballbearing/bb. to fire you have to pull out a lever mounted on the side, then push it back in.

so technically it's an "air gun" but believe me you, this thing could easily kill a person.

I believe powerful air rifles were quite popular for hunting in Europe during the late 18th Century.

The Austrian Army adopted the Bartolemeo Girandoni air rifle in 1780.
Most famous of the historic air rifles is the Isaiah Lukens manufactured Lukens and Kunz for Capt. Meriwether Lewis of the Corps of Discovery (Lewis & Clark Expedition).

http://www.lcarchive.org/images/IsaiahLukens_1_small.jpghttp://www4.vmi.edu/museum/lc1.jpg
It resides at the Virginia Military Institute (http://www4.vmi.edu/museum/air_rifle.html)

The butt of the rifle is actually a metal canister designed with a needele valve to hold compressed air. The air was stored under pressure --between700 and 900 pounds per square inch! (A modern car tire carries a pressure of 35 puonds per square inch.) When the trigger is pulled, just the right amount of air is carried from the butt to the bullet chamber and the round leaves the barrel with a whish.

The Marines have been using goggle covers forever and for them its just an issue sock with the end cut off. There are some newer commercial goggle covers now.

Air-gun is usally chambered for 4.5 mm (.177"), but I have heard of more powerful 5.5mm weapons also. It is possible to die after being shot with a air-gun but we are talking about head shot from a very short distance.
