document is now very out of date, they are no longer in Germany, 1ID returned home to Ft Riley back in 2006.

I was with 1ID in OIF

12th Chemical was moved out of 1ID and now is part of 5 corp (graf).
1-4 Cav, 82eng, 1-33 FA are all part of 173 Airborne.
2nd BDE remained heavy and now is 170 inf, in Schweinfurt(moving to graf). While the 2nd BDE (Daggar), has just relocated to Ft. Riley (i believe they are still heavy)

1 ID is now a light infantry div, with one heavy BDE.

I posted it because it gives the history of the division and its accomplishments.

me too, where all the units ended up.

the important thing for me is that 1/18 and 1/26 are still with the big red one. 1/26th inf has been with 1ID since it became 1ID in 1917.

Theodore Roosevelt, Jr. (Presidents Roosevelt's elders son) Medal of honor recipient was the BN commander for 1/26th during WW1, I believe he was also with them in WW2 and became a Brigadier General with in 1ID

Thanks for the link.

The 1ID is of most interest to me. I remember living in Fort Riley back in the early 90's when i was a younger! Dad also served in the Gulf War.

What's cool is my unit got the first tank kill of the ground forces. They even tried to bring the hunk of junk back as a trophy but it was too much of a mess.
