Awsome pictures!

But could you please resize them to something alittle smaller next time? Huge pictures like that take along time to load, and they mess up forum's formating. :) Thanks

The CIA called...

They said if you going to post giant hi-res photos, please shoot top secret equipment and facilities so they can be useful for "study". :D

Try not to get caught, treason is a capitol offense over there, but then most other offenses are as well...

Has anyone else noticed in the last one month that this forum has been invaded by people from mainland China posting high-speed pics of high-speed looking Chinese soldiers, tanks, ships etc.. In the last month specifically. And not just on this site.. On www.army.ca and a few other military sites they have started popping up all over too. I mean the Chinese Government blocks yahoo.com, cnn.com and censores **** Cheney's speech (Because of mentions of freedom in it) but sites of pro-Democracy, pro-Captalist, pro-Freedom militaries aren't restricted? Seems kind of odd to me.

It's quite notable because in the last month or so China has become hot button again. Summer Pulse '04 and now the Chinese military rehersal for the Taiwan invasion.

Also have to watch out for the Chinese "cyber warriors", which they are politically motivated, professionally trained(by PLA?) hackers. They are capable of defacing U.S. government and pro-democracy websites, and theoretically they could steal sensitive information and disrupt internet networks.

China has also voiced interest to send about a hundred policemen to Haïti as part of the police contingent of the UN mission there.

Sorry I didn't use politically correct language for you. I shall correct myself.

"These forums have been entered by people from mainland China"

 Sorry if I used language that could be contrieved as offensive. Seriously don't you have better things to do than take offense to an innocent wording of something?

Umm.. Dude..

1) The Chinese government has FIREWALLS to block out sites that they deem against Chinese values.

2) If they're posting these up at the risk of being caught and prosecuted why do most of these guys speak glowingly about the Chinese government and why would they even bother anyway?

3) If you're going to insult me find something wrong with what I've said and attack that.

Thanks.

Hi, Man!

Have you ever come to China and look what is happening here with your own eyes rather than just read the newspapers in your country??

China has the most Cyber Cafe in the world and we have 20M frequent internet users. And this number is still keeping growth everyday.

You know what's your problem??? You have such a strong bias upon China. And you think I am working for the gov't. Hahaaaa~~~~~It is one of the most funny joke I have ever heard.

You want to know why we love our country? If you know a little about China's modern history you won't feel surprised. Because we had miserable experience in the last centry. And China has never be so flourish in the last hunderd year. I see the people here are happy and we are so optimistic about our future.

Uhh I think that can apply to any city in any part of the world.

Apart from Singapore ;).

Mongrel
07-12-2004, 05:15 PM
No it only applies to third world countries, and other places that the value of health and human life is just above dirt.

Ever been to Vancouver BC Canada.
55% Asian population. I used to chase fresh off the boat chinese people out of our garden all the time who were taking craps etc.

I was even waiting at a bus stop in down town Vancouver when a Chinese lady lifted her little boy in the air so he could crap in the Garbage can!
Right in front of about 30 biz people on the way to work.

NOT ALL ARE LIKE THIS, but the 'westernized' Chinese people I know tell me this is normal behav' from were they are from...its a bit of a culture clash.

This is largly the fault of our OVER PC Liberal Government that has taken away the education, and acclamation part of immigration. Which IMHO is not fair to those coming to a new country...who are then open to being exploited by their own and others.

I also have the benifit of knowing many in the teaching community that goto China to teach English, and they (and others) say if you have access to outside sites it is only becouse you are being watched 24/7...all routed through a Government office.
Who owns the power company?
Who owns the Cable company?
Who owns the phone company?
Think about it. :slap:

Don't believe it then type in some 'key words' in your search engine and you will soon get a visit from the government...this has happend to quite a few people I know.

The idea is If you can't stop information travel, at least own it, and monitor it. A classic info gathering method..give enogh rope to hang a bunch.

BTW: Free Tibet then we will talk!
Cheers!

What? "Crap in the garbage can"? I'm a Chinese immigrant there myself and I have never heard of this, and I really find it weird about this claim of it's somehow people relief ourselves in other people's garbage cans and private gardens. Not all Chinese people can do the immigration anyways -- it is more than writing on a piece of paper. Nor do I know that I should crap in people's garden actually. We do have a bathroom.

Also, as with what Xingbake said, I would find it to be an immerse amount of hassle for certin government to track 20 million individual internet users. I've accessed CNN, Yahoo, and searched on Google just in these recent days (although yes, some like CNN are sometimes so slow on 56k that you think its blocked).

Not my job, not my problem. I only share in the amusment that YES this is a strange event to have so many show up at once and have such access to such sites.
