Watched most of a History channel show last evening on the 3 shots JFK thing, which was not only about the killing of JFK but about the aftermath. First let me say I am not getting all my information from a television show, nor watching the Stone film JFK...as I lived through the 1963 assassination of JFK and the 1968 killings of Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy(presidential candidate) and attempted killing of Gov. Wallace (presidential candidate). The Watts riots following the MLK assassination etc.

I know others here did as well.

Watching those old movies, some black and white and some in color, was like being in a dreamworld to me. Brought back a flood of memories of fear, riots, anger, helplessness, and dread of what the next day might bring. photo of JFK made on 22 nov. 1963 in fort worth texas...by me and a couple other guys with a 4x5 speed graphic camera:

I will always wonder, about what might have been, had the events not occured in 63, and 68.

I was born in Nov '63, so that pre-dates my memory. But I grew up in Boston MA and my parents and grandparents were big Kennedy people. They had (and probably still have) a multi-LP set of the entire funeral procession - with the drums and narrator and the whole deal. My folks said they were too busy raising little kids to notice much of what was going on...they also missed the Beatles apparently p-)

In the early '70's the "real world" seemed scary as sh*t to me, as a 7 year old. We'd go to drive-ins one week to see The Love Bug...then the next week it would be Vanishing Point or Dirty Mary & Crazy Larry or some outlaw biker movie. Lots of greasy long hair and disreputable behavior. I watched Dragnet on TV and those kids with the Dutch boy haircuts and square sunglasses were hopped up on the pills. Cities seemed to be overflowing with trash and vagrants / hippies. I was not hopeful for the future.
