Guys

Commander of Russian Spetsnaz Unit "Vityaz" Sergei Lysyuk has been looking for this type of jacket for a while. So he wants me to know if I can find that in US and how much it would cost. Ofcourse I cant take any money from such a friend, and i will just buy him this awesome jacket.

So here is a link he provided me with

http://www.surplusandadventure.com/ishop/800/shopscr2108591.html

The store is in UK, and I believe that this is a British design based on US M65 jacket.

Can someone please tell me what is the difference, where can I find this in US, and how is American model is different.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ANY HELP!!!!!!!!!

If that's a standard M65 jacket, it shouldn't be too hard to find in any US Surplus store.
Sorry that isn't very helpful, but what I wanted to get at was Surplus&Adventure.
I'd be wary of them.
You may buy something and be lucky and get it shipped in no time.
But I've heard plenty of "horror" stories about them, especially if the item isn't in stock.

Ebay is your friend, just make sure that the material is 50% cotton/ 50% Nylon. thats what the US army used if it says polyester its a knock off for sure.

If he wants M65 jacket for everyday life, he can easily buy it in Russia, I recommend Alfa and Propper made (not Rothco,Mil-tec, teesar and other ****). If he wants a jacket for a real action, tell him that M65 jacket is out-of-date.

The jacket on your link is a cool looking civilian military-style jacket based on M65, it is not "british design" or something.

There is a difference between even a real issued M65 jackets of different manufacturers. On your link, there is a special lining (synthetic fur instead of simple quilted lining). Outer fabric is a "stonewashed" 100% cotton (real M65 is nylon/cotton 50/50).

As I mentioned before, it looks better than original M65 but it is not for field.

Also an Issue OD M65 Coat Cold Weather, aka Field Jacket will have a Brass Zipper for the main zip and hood pocket in the collar. Later Woodland M65s had OD plastic zippers. The press studs would be blued not galvanized and the lining is rip stop poplin.

The US Army actually still issues the M-1965 field jacket in ACU pattern. The difference now is that there's velcro on the sleeves, chest, and middle of the chest for rank and unit/flag patches.

eBay would be the best place to pick up an M65, and you could definitely do it without spending a whole lot. Also, FYI, Vietnam era M65 field jackets have aluminum zippers.

That paricular jacket is a commercial civilian design. Ebay is full of it... so are most mailorder sites.

http://www.alphaindustries.com/

Alpha Industries has been making jackets for the military, including the M65, for years. They still put out the OD M65 and other colors pretty much every year including the F/W 2009 season.

You can purchase directly from them, but I don't know if they ship outside the U.S. I'd take a look though.

"...This U.S. Army style M65 Regiment Jacket has an outer shell in stonewashed 100% cotton for extra comfort and that used fashion look, complete with removable quilted liner that can be used as a jacket on its own...."

maybe you can hire some girl to make up one M65 to look like this...

the main difference to a regular M65 is the liner, which seems to be much warmer and much better to fasten to the shell jacket than the regular one...
