I could smell some jokes coming about the French military and their efficiency (even this kind of incident happens to anyone in the desert...)

The suject has already been discussed here (http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=19333&sid=fb1bb735fe06bfeff424364301179705)

From the original French Forum (http://www.armees.net/Forums/index.php?showtopic=1677) where those pictures have been already posted they said they are GCP (pathfinders for the regular paratroopers)

FYI "Treize" who posted the pictures is a pseudo refering to a popular cartoon's hero in France but not the 13th Dragon Parachutiste (a recon unit similar to the defunct LLRPs) ;)

They're neither. The subdued shoulder patch, which you can just see in some of the photos, is that of the 11e BP's GCP. The photos were originally on brikolo.free.fr, and the author said they were GCP soldiers. I don't know why they were taken down from the site.
