Th Wessex helicopter only entered service several years after the Suez operation; the helicopters used by the British forces there were the Whirlwind and the Bristol Sycamore. The Vampire was not in front-line use by the RAF anymore, it had been replaced by the rather similar Venom; or the Sea Fury by the RN. The aircraft used by the Fleet Arm at Suez were the Sea Hawk, the De Havilland Sea Venom (the two-seat all-weather fighter variant), the Westland Wyvern, and the Douglas Skyraider (an AEW version of this aircraft).

The RAF, besides the Valiant, Canberra, Shackleton, Meteor (night fighters), Venom and Hunter also used Hastings and Valetta transport aircraft. The French, besides their F-84Fs, Ouragans and Mysteres, also employed Noratlas and Dakota transports. Their naval air arm was mainly equipped with Vought Corsairs and Grumman Avengers.

Thanks a lot for your valuable information

This issue was not completed yet, but it will be done, and modefied as well.

ACIG, the Israeli domain, is a real reference and had exceptionally excellent info about the wars in the middle east, both this one and other wars.

They have püblished a huge amount of good info, about all the Aircarft, the details , the fighting and most important of all, are their id-numbers etc .

http://www.acig.org/artman/publish/cat_index_22.shtml

It is really a valuable reference which ought to be visited and looked at , not only for the statistics and other info, but also for many other interesting topics

Sure, you have noticed, that I have copied here some photos from there.

Actually, we in (britains-smallwars) had published extensive and structured info abbout those aircarft and others ...

http://britains-smallwars.com/suez/suez-index.html

There are always, dedicated sites for the deployed airforces and others , in each section about those wars ...

The topics sent by the vets, telling their own experiences during each war are interesting and worthreading, because the reflect truely what happened, with all its human factors.

Wars can be referred to , somtimes as jolly old times and many times as damn thing , this depends on our own experiences and points of views
