Mr. Olka, who is somewhat famous for his Armalite airsoft creations, announced a while back a line of replica helmets of the MICH 2000, 2001 and 2002, which could be bought from www.Boomarms.com

Now he is working on a new line of high quality airsoft replicas.

Here is the original text from the info mail

After the MICH replica, Mr. olka is busying on his new "fashion" lines. Some hottest BA vests were ready for out. Listed were including

Spear BAS, Spear Ranger, BT, AWS and the RAV. Those were made by "IR Cordura", which means the camo pattern was kept under the NVG vision.

Woodland is molle 2 pattern, tri-desert is came from US mil. directly, the quality is as high as a real stuff...

What's with this thingy where if you order from Hong Kong, US Customs might confiscate your gun? I've asked Redwolf about this, they should get back to me tomorrow. I'd like to order an AEG ($200-$250), but only overseas dealers have those kind of prices.

Already been posted before.

Pooga, customs will only sieze the gun if, the muzzle is not painted orange and the trademarks not removed. But as far as I know Redwolf do this to there guns when sending to the US. However, for your first AEG, I'd suggest you buy from a more local retailer.

Gringo: This the wrong topic to discuss this in, I know. I don't want to buy from a local dealer because they charge way over than overseas dealers. That's bad. And I don't think I want the Cybergun AR-15.

Redwolf takes off trademarks (what are trademarks?) and does the "1/8th of the barrel is orange" thing. If this happens, it WILL NOT be taken by Customs?

Oh, why do you recommend that I buy from a local dealer? So I can ask questions?

Remember that what you save in base price by buying overseas, you loose again with the higher shipping. Fo like an average AEG expect to pay $60-80 shipping. If it was an in country retailer, the shipping would be less.

As for trademarks, those are the names or logos of the real-steel gun's manufacturer. For example, an M16 has Colt trademarks on it. Because the airsoft companies do not pay royalties to the real steel companies to use their name and logo, they are illegal in the US and must be removed to get into the US. Worse case they melt the trademarks, some only cover them with putty though...

the trademarks are like the logo stuff on the guns (Colt, H&K markings etc).
If the trademarks are removed and the muzzle painted orange, it will be taken in by US customs.

I recommend you buy from a more local retailer as if there is a problem the gun can be returned or repaired more easily.

And like Chet Mystery said, when buying overseas there is the added cost of more postage then buying locally, and the chance that there maybe a duty tax to pay.

Thanx.

What's the cheapest place to buy a respectable AEG, like a Sig 552 (or 551, whatever :P )? I've looked, and it's tough to find. Even froogle doesn't really work too well.

Ask around on this forum. There's was a thread about what are the best US retailers, do a search and you'll find your answer.

Also, I wouldn't advise a SIG 551, it uses a stick battery (which are pretty crap), and the stock is very fragile. A SIG 552 is good though.

Never met anyone who did business with Zorks. Last I heard they were out of business (I could be wrong).

www.olympus-airsoft.com

www.airscout.net

Both good MN-based retailers. I've done over $5k worth of business with OA.
