Wow...that's..really risky..but hey, I gotta give credit to her. It's really...creative. I mean, she could have gotten you socks :P You seem like a daredevil type of guy, that's a great gift for you! :) Neat experience.

defineitly a cool gift...but the danger factor was minimal...that type of shark (sand tiger i think) looks scary but is harmless (they eat only fish)...it ain't as if he was diving with tigersharks, great whites, makos, hammerheads, or bull sharks (all known to attack humans every so often especially the bull shark)

Yeha minimal, but they have bitten 9 other divers. one guy got bitten on the back of the head, teeth went through his head into his brain, but he survived. they told me that just before i got in the water!!!!

LOL ...i think they were pulling your leg.....then again anything is possible rofl
I swam with a shark. He didn't even look at me, just minded his/her own business. The sharks you gotta watch out for though are Hammerheads, Great Whites (duh), and Bull Sharks.. You got an excellent B-day present. Wish I could do that more often.

bull sharks r definitly the worst (more so than great whites)...quite possiably the most agressive animals on the planet...they have testosterone levles higher than an adult bull african elephant

Last year, my mom sent my dad shark diving in the Carribean for his birthday (several-day trip; they're both in their late 50s and he's a veteran scuba diver, though this was his first shark dive).

There are sharks in California, but they aren't as frequently seen in public as in Australia. A surfers worst nightmare is a shark. Nasty bastards! In all my years of surfing Cali I have only seen 1 shark, on one trip to Australia I saw 2, and they were big muggers!
