I have a question about the Finnish 85 sniper rifle. What are the specifications of the scopes used and for all of the Finnish users of this rifle, what do you think of the scopes and what would you prefer in a scope? Also, what do you think of the method of loading the rifle? Would you prefer a detachable box magazine or are you happy with the single loading feature?

Sights Zeiss Diavari 1.5-6x42 or
Schmidt & Bender 4x36 telescopic sights
Simrad KN 250/252 F nightscope

google, it provides all type of answers

(just in case; now that you have the names you can look up the features for each scope, as for the likes and dislikes of the rifle I think you would have a better chance of finding it out on a forum that is whole hartedly dedicated to the sniper rifles or just the finnish M85's, really chances of finding someone here are slim and may take a while, also you may want to check out the world.guns.ru, a good place to read up on different guns and stuff)

I guess I should have phrased my questions a little better. I had already found the model numbers of the scopes, but not detailed user specs that I would trust. When I looked up those scopes, they looked like standard hunting scopes, not military or police type scopes. Do they have bullet drop compensation like a Leupold Mk 4 as used by the U.S? Also, do the users like the scopes? I have read some places that there is dis-satisfaction with the reticles, but I would like to hear from actual users, if possible. Also, I would like to know what the users think of the loading technique of the rifle.

Don't know about the Leupold, but they are equipped with a bullet drop compensator.

Optics are good, but the reticles have been discussed about. Nothing major as far as I understand it. Some just think they are less than optimal. Of course the scopes are quite old school, but they are quality optics that work.

Also, I would like to know what the users think of the loading technique of the rifle.

If you are a sniper it shouldn't matter that much, or should it?

Zeiss and Schmidt & Bender make some of the best scopes in the world. They probably know what they're doing.

Being a design from the late 1800's, the bullet-by-bullet reloading is of course far from optimal. Quickish loading takes some practice. Unaccustomed users (like myself) make mistakes easily while loading, resulting in even more time needed for the operation.

Having also parts from the late 1800's/early 1900's results in unwanted action if the bolt action is not handled with care. Sometimes the bolt tends to get stuck in the "open" position if pulled with too much force. I'm not sure if this is the case with newer bolts, all the TAK85's I've fired had bolts that are at least 70 years old, some possibly from the Czar era.

Dunno about the scopes, only fired the Zeiss one, and I am a pure amateur in sniper rifles anyways with no training for them whatsoever. The above are just my own findings from the occasional times I have used the TAK85.
