Since we have a fair amount of users in this forum whining day in and day out about this belief...it's only fair and fun to start a public opinion poll!!!!

Personally I don't believe the conspiracy crap these people are putting out about America. Because for one most of it is comming from communists or those who have been coerced by them. And even in the unlikely event that all this stuff about a new world order is true well then it remains to be seen what that fictional world government would be like. If it is simply a democratic and free government I have no problem with it. However, since the United States is founded on beliefs of Life, Liberty and the Persuit of happiness then I would be obligated to fight such a world government if it were dictatorial in nature. As would any patriotic American!

American Imperialism has nothing to do with conspiracy theories.American Imperialism is spreading Americanized Democracy to anyone who'll listen or we conquer.Sort of like Rome, yes?Hence the title of a book I was told was very interesting,Pax Americana.
Let's keep in mind,American Democracy is only 200 hundred years old,so still young.Personally it needs to grow and expand,if that includes taking parts from other forms of government (such as the dreaded evil communist/marxist/socialist way) then so be it.
Frankly I don't believe in American Imperialism. It's just a way of saying,"Look! You do bad!We hate you!"
(Sorry for the spelling, having trouble today for some reason.)

It may be a young country but it has one of the oldest forms of government in the world.

That's right mortimer, the United States is a Democratic Republic, pure democracies typically don't work so well.

never claimed it to be...
it is a democratic republic - the truest form of democracy in use
the closest true democracy was in ancient italy wnen the senate was made of randomly choosen citizen to run the senate for a term...the idea was eventually all people would get their turn.. unfortunately it too was not a true democracy as women and slaves had no voice.

So...so far, we got at least 1 fundamentalist already in the war against the "Great Satan," 1 idealist with his/her dream of an Anti-American Imperialism Alliance and including Mortimer, 2 wanna-be who is in the process of formulating a plan against big bad America.

A.Enders, It really is a democratic republic, that's the name for the system of government.
The term preceded the modern political parties of democrats and republicans.
Athens did an okay job of a true democracy but it only lasted 60 yrs. and they had a small population, with very strict rules governing who was considered a "citizen"...

actually the government type is a democratic republic all though it is a "Federal Republic" as in : relating to, or being the central government of the United States as relating to the central government of a federation as distinct from the governments of its member units.
the democratic republic government systems governs over a union of states that recognizes the sovereignty of a central authority while retaining certain residual powers of government.
in a nutshell.
