View Full Version : Anita Dunn to step down as W.H. communications chief
White House Communications Director Anita Dunn will step down by the end of November and be replaced by her deputy Dan Pfeiffer, Fox News has learned.
Dunn's departure had been expected as she took the position on an interim basis earlier in the year. The White House had long said Dunn would leave before the end of 2009.
But her exit comes at a critical time for the White House, with the administration trying to push the Senate to follow the House of Representatives' lead in passing health care reform.
Dunn, who has been a vocal critic of Fox News and last month accused the network of being a "wing of the Republican Party," will remain as an outside consultant to the White House and continue to be involved in strategy.
Pfeiffer had long been the most likely candidate to replace her. His office is next to that of White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs and he participates in all communications strategy sessions.
Before joining the White House, Pfeiffer worked on Barack Obama's presidential campaign and also for several Democratic senators, including Indiana's Evan Bayh.
Dunn assumed the communications post on an interim basis after Ellen Moran stepped down for a job at the Commerce Department.
Fox News' Major Garrett contributed to this report.

I'm surprised they announced it. Lately they seem to quietly replace these people who've been "outed".

Dude you are believing your own press.
She was not outed, she was the interim communications director.

You beleive that? After all the anti-Fox BS that came out of the white house? They are clearly spinning so that there faithful wont think it had anything to do with her saying Mao is "one of her favorite political philosophers". It wasn't CNN bringing that to the country's attention.

Well, didn't he?

No question she was outed - the question is; was she asked to leave because of it? Who knows, but this is politics and nothing happens by accident. "Interim" in this context probably meant "she wants the job permanently by the end of the year, but the White House wants to wait a while to see if anybody finds that Mao clip".
I can't think of a name

Guys,
Dunn was going to leave by December all along. She was not driven out due to this Fox News stuff. The very fact that she was planning on leaving is why they put her out front as the face of their anti-Fox campaign.
The Mao thing was embarrassing but did little damage. They are still replacing her with a close associate of hers.

Hmmm I never checked out her political history. Whats up with these leftist radicals in Obama's team?? They are getting too close to one of the most powerful centers of global gravity for my liking.

How about, she wasn't very f*cking good at her job so they got rid of her. You'd think a guy that gives as good a speech as Obama, would understand the value of good communications. Something his White House has been sorely lacking.

Your correct Joe.... they could not convince an Eskimo to build a harm fire if they tried.
Maybe its because this Obama Crew is all about The Celebrity Leadership Style.

I give him some credit, he is learning on the job.
