I´ve found one post regarding to this topic by former pilot:

After all that, we went to Thailand and onloaded 105 Vietnamese aircraft, mostly F-5 Freedom Fighters and A-10 Warthogs, and transported them to Guam. After we dropped the aircraft off in Guam, we went back for liberty in Subic Bay PI, but just a couple hours before we hit the carrier pier at Cubi Point we turned west, where we flew air cover while the Marines (and a certain Senior Chief whom I shall not mention ) recaptured the US cargo ship SS Mayaguez, which had been pirated off the high seas by the Cambodians.

When we finally hit the PI we had been at sea for almost 2 1/2 months.

Ahhhh, the good old days. . . .

This gentleman maybe forgot about his past career... :cantbeli:

The first production A-10 arrived in March 1976 with the first operational TFW receiving its first aircraft in March 1977....

I think he misunderstood with VNAF Cessna A-37s Dragonfly ;)

Sorry and not trying to sound like a nitpick, but the first A-10 was delivered in late 1975. However, yeah, that was much to late to have seen any action with either USAF or VNAF heh
